Wrestling with Sin: 599

Brian Damage

This is the 599th installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involve such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series, I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.

A Perfect Cup of Coffee

In 1990, the WWF staff and wrestlers were in Stamford, Connecticut filming promos for the house show circuit. Filming basically took all day, with wrestlers doing promos for their upcoming matches in various cities across the country.

During the course of the day, Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig allegedly decided to pull a rib (practical joke) by spiking the coffee machine with the date rape drug known as GHB. Several wrestlers took coffee from that machine as the hours were long and tedious. The drug began affecting wrestlers during their promo time with some slurring their speech and others like the Bushwhackers completely passed out.

Another person passed out from drinking the coffee was Sensational Sherri. Hennig allegedly then shaved one of Sherri’s eyebrows while she was unconscious. When Sherri woke up, she realized the rib pulled on her and others and flipped over the coffee machine in anger. She spotted Hennig laughing and slapped him accusing him of the rib, which Curt vehemently denied.

As all of this was taking place, Vince McMahon was supposedly livid and promised to fire whoever was responsible for the prank. The entire day of taping promos lasted a lot longer due to the rib. It was never confirmed if Hennig was the perpetrator, but some are convinced it was him behind spiking the coffee with GHB.

Keeping it in the Family

Ricardo Rodriguez was living his dream working for the biggest wrestling company in the world in WWE. Ricardo was used not only as a wrestler, but as a ring announcer, color commentator and trainer. In 2014, everything came crashing down on him as reportedly he discovered that his wife was carrying on an affair with his own brother.

To make matters worse, his wife and brother took everything from him including his home. Rodriguez spiraled out of control and began drinking heavily to cover up his personal pain. He ultimately hated going to work and requested his release from the company. The drinking just became worse as he was now homeless and without a job.

He revealed one day he woke up in a detox center, but doesn’t recall how he even got there. After getting released from rehab, Ricardo was invited by friend the Great Khali to travel to India to help him train wrestlers and start a promotion. The work reignited his passion for pro wrestling and that led Rodriguez to start his own wrestling school. He also secured a job in Major League Wrestling as a producer. Ricardo states that wrestling saved his life and gave him purpose.

Morton’s Salty

Kerry Morton, the son of Ricky Morton was accused of theft from a wrestling convention organizer named Greg Price. The third generation wrestler allegedly stole items from vendors which consisted of photos. When Kerry was approached over the missing items, Morton allegedly went on a profanity laced tirade in front of women and children that were at the event.

According to Price, Morton then walked over to where his father and Robert Gibson were doing a meet and greet and told them to get up and leave, despite being paid to be there the entire day. Ricky Morton asked what the issue was and was informed that his son potentially stole some stuff from the event. Kerry then allegedly dumped the stolen items in a back room and stormed outside.

When Morton returned, his father questioned him about the situation and Kerry allegedly admitted to taking the items without consent. Ricky Morton apologized to the staff for his son’s behavior. Greg Price then alerted NWA owner Billy Corgan about the incident. Kerry currently works for the NWA. Corgan has yet to make a statement about the incident and according to Price, Kerry Morton has yet to apologize in the matter.

On the Rox

WWE star Roxanne Perez was the target of an internet stalker. The individual posted numerous messages on social media stating he and Perez were in a relationship. When he was called out for saying that, the individual posted photos of himself with Perez at a meet and greet as proof of their relationship.

To make matters worse, this person began posting messages of potential violence towards Perez’s real life boyfriend Drake Morreaux and her fellow Judgement Day member Liv Morgan. The individual stated he knew where Roxanne lived and if she didn’t respond to his messages, he would go to her home.

After a number of fans reported the disturbing posts, his social media accounts were suspended. No word if WWE will take further action against the individual.

  • I’d bet Kerry got a good kick in the ass from his father after the incident. I hope Ricardo’s brother and ex-wife get the karma they deserve.

As a follower of the Mid Atlantic page at FaceBook, I must admit that Greg Price can be a tad annoying at times. He was super cryptic about the incident at first, saying that he apologized for the person who yelled profanities at the R and R meet and greet. And nothing else. Of course many assumed that it was either Ricky or Robert who were at fault. When pressed for details, Greg got testy and told everyone it was none of their business. Yet he brought it up. It was finally fans and attendees who filled in the blanks as to what happened. As an aside, Greg was going to expose some kind of wrestling autograph scammer some time back, and never did. As for Kerry Morton, a few have said his behavior was not surprising as he has been an ass at shows before. The GHB rib was not in the least bit funny.
