This is the 592nd installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involve such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series, I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.

Dodging Bullets

Goldy Locks was a backstage interviewer and valet for the then upstart TNA from 2002 until 2005. Early in her run with the promotion, she revealed that she was severely harassed sexually by the financial liaison for TNA’s parent company Panda Energy which was owned by Dixie Carter’s family. Goldy said that this individual would constantly say lewd and inappropriate things to her every time he came to visit the show. She said she would literally hide from the person whenever they showed up.

At one point, the liaison asked for Goldy Locks personal phone number from the Jarretts apparently unbeknownst to them and gave it to the person. That person then proceeded to call her number multiple times often leaving filthy messages on her answering machine. Having had enough of the sexual harassment, Goldy presented the audio tapes to Jerry Jarrett. Goldy claimed that both Jeff and Jerry Jarrett begged her not to go public with the tapes because it would end TNA wrestling. The Jarretts promised to handle the situation internally.

Goldy felt a certain loyalty to the Jarretts, as they gave her a big opportunity with their company and didn’t want to see TNA fold and put a lot of people out of work. She remained silent on the issue. The issue was apparently settled after speaking with the Jarretts.

A couple of years later, Goldy Locks was being used as a heel valet/manager and was asked by TNA management to take a Black Hole Slam from Abyss. Goldy refused to take the move due to her having a degenerative disc disease. She instead offered to take a different move. According to Goldy, Abyss went to TNA management and complained that Goldy refused to do his finisher and that she was being difficult and was immediately fired by Terry Taylor on behalf of the Jarretts. 

Despite the bitter ending to her TNA career, Goldy Locks was still used by Dixie Carter to write and perform entrance music for several TNA wrestlers. One of those songs was written for her good friend Trinity and was entitled ‘Dodging Bullets.’ The song was actually written to detail her sexual harassment history with the individual from a couple of years earlier.

Bumps on a Plane

Peter Polaco fka Aldo Montoya in the WWF recalled a plane ride overseas while on a tour with the WWF. He readily admitted to doing cocaine with Shawn Michaels on the plane ride to their destination. Once the plane landed, Polaco said he still had a considerable amount of coke left over, so he hid the drug in his underwear waistband.

After getting off the plane, Polaco noticed a small army of soldiers with machine guns awaiting the wrestlers. He was convinced that he would be caught with the drugs and arrested and subsequently fired from the company. Luckily for him, the soldiers were there to protect the wrestlers and took them for a fancy dinner with champagne. 

Heavy is the Head Who Wears the Crown

Matt Granahan was known by many nicknames…the Granimal, The Diva Smasher, the Suntan Superman and his most known…’The King of Connecticut.’ Granahan wrestled professionally on the independent circuit, did mixed martial arts, wrote a book and did commentary for both MMA and indie wrestling promotions. We conducted an interview with Granahan about a year ago. As successful as Granahan was in his business dealings, he was also well known outside of the octagon and squared circle for relationships with some of the women of wrestling. 

Granahan had relationships with Debra Marshall, Tammy Sytch and Geroge Frankenstein as well as a flirtatious exchange with Ric Flair’s then wife Wendy Barlow. Flair found out about the flirating and announced he was divorcing Wendy, only to later reconcile with her. The couple have since divorced. At one time, Flair and Granahan were friends with one another. After the incident, Flair physically threatened Granahan, but Granahan insisted that nothing happened between Wendy and himself.

In late July/early August of 2025, Granahan was discovered in his hotel room dead from a single gunshot wound. The investigation determined it was suicide, but several of Granhan’s close friends believe otherwise. Granahan was a very charismatic individual who was always out there in the spotlight living life to the fullest. He was the sole caretaker for his ailing mother who he adored. His friends don’t believe he would all of a sudden end his life with no note or any explanation. He was apparently involved with some shady individuals the last days of his life, but no other real details were revealed. The King of Connecticut Matt Granahan was just 50 years old at the time of his death.

Broken Promise

Independent wrestler Zy Gold revealed that she was a victim of domestic abuse from her wife…a Texas based independent wrestler known as Promise Braxton. Zy accused her ex wife of cheating on her multiple times when they were dating, but ultimately forgave Promise. A month into their marriage, Promise allegedly became violent and controlling. Zy claimed that Promise would beat her and choke her out on numerous occasions. 

One time, she locked Promise out of their apartment and Promise broke in through a back window only to beat on her after Zy attempted to break off from her wife. Zy Gold also claimed that Promise’s family have helped her cover up the abuse with lies and deception. Zy contends that abuse just got worse and worse and posted pictures detailing her injuries at the hands of Promise Braxton.

Zy got a restraining order from Promise and divorced her before finally revealing the abuse she suffered in their relationship together. Zy Gold continues to wrestle on the independents and works as a behavioral therapist. Promise Braxton just recently retired from the squared circle and was reportedly offered a WWE tryout as a referee through Booker T whom she was working for in his Reality of Wrestling promotion. It doesn’t appear that Promise ever received that tryout.
