They were a successful tag team in WWE’s developmental territory Ohio Valley Wrestling for a number of years. When they were called up to the main roster, they were given a completely different gimmick. The team only lasted about five months before being released from the company. Today on the blog, we ask…’Whatever Happened To’ The Dicks?

John Toland was trained at the Monster Factory in New Jersey in the year 2000. He then began his singles career in the northeast independents. Chad Wicks was trained at the Chaotic Wrestling Training Center in Massachusetts. Wicks would also further his training by attending the Inoki Dojo in Los Angeles, California. John Toland was the first to sign a WWE developmental deal and was assigned to OVW in 2003. Wicks signed his developmental deal one year later in 2004.

They eventually formed a team when Chad Wicks adopted the ‘Toland’ last name and became Chad Toland…the cousin of John ‘Tank’ Toland. Together with Jillian Hall as their manager…they were known as ‘The Blonde Bombers.’ The Blonde Bombers would defeat the Thrillseekers of Johnny Jeter and the late Matt Cappotelli for the OVW Southern tag team titles. In addition to winning the tag belts, Chad Toland would win the OVW heavyweight title.

In October of 2005, the team was called up to the main roster and debuted on an episode of Smackdown by attacking the Mexicools. They were given a new gimmick, that of male strippers or Chippendale dancers. The new gimmick also had a new name…The Dicks. John Toland became ‘James Dick’ and Chad Wicks became known as ‘Chad Dick.’ The Dicks lasted for 5 months with the main roster…but the duo got into a fight with one another as covered here. They were ultimately released from the company in 2006.

So the question remains…whatever happened to James and Chad Dick? John ‘James Dick’ Toland continued his wrestling career for awhile wrestling for independent groups and Ring of Honor. He currently resides in New Jersey with his wife and daughter where he is a Lieutenant Lifeguard on beach patrol in the Southern New Jersey area. As for his former partner Chad Wicks, he dabbled in Mixed Martial Arts competitions, did some modeling and now works as a water distributor based out of his hometown in Iowa.
