This Week in Wrestling: Week 24 of 2026

There were rumors spreading that the Rock’s production company along with a group of investors are interested in buying World Wrestling Entertainment from TKO. While this may seem like a dream for some WWE fans, the reality is more like a pipe dream instead. From what has been said, WWE is currently worth an estimated 20 billion dollars. I seriously doubt the Rock and any group of investors will be able to pony up that amount.

There have also been reports that the Rock and Triple H have not gotten along since the Rock became an investor of TKO. THAT is something I do partially believe at least. I am not saying the two men hate each other with the intensity of 1,000 white hot suns, but I do see the two envisioning different things for the company. Perhaps it all began when the Rock was booked to face Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania 40 and then pivoted back to Cody Rhodes.

The Rock’s appearances in WWE have been sporadic at best and he seemingly and I emphasize seemingly sabotaged the angle where John Cena turned heel. He didn’t appear at Wrestlemania 41 and instead only Travis Scott showed up in a rather awkward and slow-moving spot. Granted, the Rock has been busy in Hollywood and can excuse his missing in action for WWE. It just seemed that he was a big part of the storyline involving Cena and Rhodes and when they needed him to put a nice bow on that story…he was nowhere to be found.
Getting back to the Rock purchasing WWE, that is why these rumors more than likely started. While I would certainly welcome WWE to move away from TKO who is completely corporate and just looking to squeeze every last cent out of the promotion, maybe a Rock led WWE would be an improvement. Maybe not.

Speaking of the Rock, this past week was the anniversary of his grandfather’s (High Chief Peter Maivia) untimely death from cancer back in 1982. Here is a Hawaiian new station reporting on Maivia’s death…
