This Week in Wrestling Week 20 of 2026

As passionate as I have been towards pro wrestling most of my life, I have to admit that I have been in a funk in my fandom. There was a time I made sure I was in front of my TV on Saturday afternoons to watch WWF television during the 1980’s. Then, when the Monday Night Wars broke out, I kept switching channels between Nitro and Raw to make sure I didn’t miss a thing. When I wasn’t watching live pro wrestling on TV, I was looking through my tape library watching classic All Japan and other territories I didn’t have access to.

When Vince McMahon blessed us with the creation and launch of the WWE Network…I was in wrestling heaven. For just 9.99 a month I had almost every territory and promotion available to me 24/7. That also included NXT programming and every WWE pay per view. What wasn’t to really love about that network? I remember there was talk that WWE was going to institute a pay tier on the network like what Netflix and other streaming services have. At the time I was pissed and felt that was robbery. Now, looking back, how I wish they actually went through with that idea.

No more WWE Network. I never realized how good I had it. Now everything is all scattered between USA Network, CW Network, Netflix , ESPN and YouTube. Despite all the ways you can watch WWE programming, I have found myself struggling just to get the urge to see anything. The same goes for TNA on AMC and AEW on TBS. My passion has definitely wilted. For the current product anyway. Maybe I’ll get that fire reignited. I hope so. For me right now, it’s all about reading books and watching old school videos to remind me that I am still a wrestling fan.

Anybody remember the WWF’s VCR game?

I so miss the days of regular television. Saturdays and Sundays were great due to all the syndicated shows.

I saw the Cavs players and immediately thought Bam Bam Bigelow but you are right.
