When most wrestling fans are asked about who the “King” of wrestling is, the answer is often Jerry Lawler. But there are several other “Kings”, some self-proclaimed, others tournament winners.
All the King of the Ring Winners (too many to list)-Some of them, like Harley Race, Randy Savage, Mabel, Haku, Hacksaw Duggan, Booker T and Owen Hart proclaimed themselves a King (usually involving an angle), complete with crown and cape.
Rufus R Jones-Jones was declared the “King of Wrestling”, a title he famously defended in the ring. He was presented with the crown by a legion of fans one night at the Greensboro Coliseum.
Ernie Ladd-In certain areas, Ladd’s wrestling nickname was “The King”, and he would wear an ornate crown.
King Cobra-James (Jimmy) Kimble was a star for the CWA and Mid-South areas in the 1970 and 1980’s.
Kings of Wrestling-Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli formed a highly successful tag team for CHIKARA and ROH.
King of Strong Style: A nickname for Shinsuke Nakamura.
King Curtis Iaukea-A former WWWF tag team champion and winner of several other championships in places like Florida and Australia.
The “King of Kings” HHH-one of his many nicknames.
Iceman “King” Parsons-A former World Class/UWF champion.
Eddie Kingston-Nicknamed the “Mad King”.
Steve Corino-Nicknamed the “King of the Old School”.
