This is the 513th installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involve such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series, I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.

Hart Stopped

In July of 2023, wrestler Teddy Hart was pulled over by police in Florida after he drove through a red traffic light. When police approached the vehicle, they could smell a strong odor of marijuana. Upon further inspection of his car, police discovered two small vials of anabolic steroids and two baggies that contained the drug ecstasy. Hart was arrested and charged with possession of MDMA and possession of a controlled substance without prescription…two felonies. He was later released from custody and scheduled to appear in court later that year.

Hart’s attorney kept on asking the judge to push back his hearing and finally in January of 2024, the judge ordered Hart to appear in February and there would be no more stalling in his case. When his hearing came up in February….Teddy Hart was a no show. A arrest warrant has been issued and Hart’s $2,000 bond has been revoked. As of this writing, Hart has yet to be back in custody and is no where to be found.

When the Honeymoon Ends…

Former WWE wrestler Rene Dupree claimed that Vince McMahon made several passes at former WWE Diva Jackie Gayda. Gayda supposedly turned down Vince at every turn for several reasons including her real life relationship to fellow wrestler Charlie Haas. Whenever someone turned down Vince, whether it was business wise or personal…he would allegedly become very vindictive.

Dupree said this was perfect example of McMahon’s wrath, as Vince waited for Charlie and Jackie to return from their honeymoon in 2005 and fired both of them. Charlie would eventually be rehired, but Jackie never returned to WWE again.

When the Levy Breaks

Martin ‘the Blimp’ Levy was discovered by wrestling promoter Jack Pfefer while working as a fat man at a Coney Island carnival in the mid 1930’s. Levy who tipped the scales at over 600 pounds, became an instant attraction for Pfefer’s traveling wrestling troupe. Blimp Levy’s wrestling career lasted from the 30’s until the 40’s.

Blimp Levy made the news in October of 1945, when his wife Juanita took the wrestler to divorce court. Juanita Levy was seeking a large pay out in alimony claiming that Levy was abusive towards her during their brief marriage. Blimp Levy argued that it wasn’t him that was the abuser, but his 120 pound wife that consistently threatened his life. Witnesses for Blimp Levy came forward and claimed that Juanita had threatened to shoot the wrestler and run a knife into his body.

Blimp Levy testified that he lived in “mortal fear” for his life living under the same roof with with Juanita. Juanita’s case was eventually dismissed by the judge when Levy’s attorney presented evidence that Juanita was married to another man when she wed the wrestler.

Neza Before/Neza Again

Arena Neza was built in 1977 and is located in Nezahualcoyotl, Mexico, one o the most densely populated suburbs near Mexico City. The arena has hosted countless wrestling events over the years from promotions such as CMLL, AAA and various Mexican independent groups. The ownership of the building has changed hands several times, including in the early 2000’s when it was taken over by a drug cartel called La Familia Michoacana. They used the arena for various criminal purposes such as money laundering, drug distribution and possibly even murder. The cartel was eventually pushed out after a massive raid by police and have since seen new ownership take over where wrestling has returned the arena.
