Brian Damage
This is the 498th installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involve such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series, I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.
The Buddy System

Former wrestler/promoter and ex husband of Fabulous Moolah…Buddy Lee was recently revealed as fathering multiple children outside of his marriages to both Moolah and his second wife wrestler Rita Cortez through DNA tests. Lee who died in 1998, was known for cheating on Moolah with Cortez leading to their bitter divorce as covered here.

In 2023, several people took DNA tests only to discover that Buddy Lee fathered several children out of wedlock including with wrestler Sweet Georgia Brown and another unnamed Moolah trained student. The biggest part of this scandal, was the revelation that Moolah’s own 16 year old cousin was impregnated by Lee back in 1960.
Runaround Sioux

In September of 2022, CMLL luchador Maximo was arrested on accusations of domestic abuse towards his wife…a luchadora named India Sioux. According to reports, neighbors heard screams coming from the couple’s home and called police. Maximo was seen running from the house in a drunken state yelling and cursing at neighbors.

India Sioux claimed that Maximo beat her in front of their two small children. She then announced that she was separating from the luchador in a lengthy social media post…which she would later take down. Maximo apologized to his friends, fans and wife for his behavior and briefly announced his retirement from pro wrestling. He would unretire not long after.
Shots Fired

While on the road with the AWA in 1987, the Nasty Boys of Brian Knobs and Jerry Sags were accused of firing roman candles at then AWA booker Wahoo McDaniel. According to Knobs, it all started when Curt Hennig got into a verbal argument with McDaniel outside of a motel. Hennig wanted to get even with Wahoo, so he conspired with the Nasty Boys to knock on McDaniel’s motel door and once he opened it, Hennig fired a series of roman candles directly at Wahoo.

Knobs claimed that a bunch of the fireworks struck Wahoo in his face and others caused a small fire to break out in the motel. The aftermath of the incident saw the Nasty Boys get the brunt of the blame and were subsequently fired from the AWA. Hennig was practically untouchable due to his father being Larry ‘The Axe’ Hennig. Verne Gagne eventually rehired the team back a year later.
Down For The 3 Count

Evan Karagias wrestled for WCW from 1997 until 2001 and was a former WCW cruiserweight and Hardcore champion. He is best remembered for his time spent teaming with Shane Helms and Shannon Moore as the faction called ‘3 Count.’

Evan Karagias was arrested in November of 2023 and charged with two misdemeanors. The charges Karagias faced were simple assault and injury to personal property. No other details were made public in this case at the time of this writing. Karagias posted a $2,500 bond and released from police custody.
