This is the 467th installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involve such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series, I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.

The Death Of A Diva

Gia Allemand was a former actress and reality show contestant and personality. She was a one time contestant on WWE’s Diva Search reality competition series, but did not make the cut. Allemand also starred in a low budget pilot film with wrestlers Colt Cabana, Disco Inferno and Johny Fairplay in 2011 called, “Ghost Trek: The Kinsey Report.”

On August 14, 2013…Allemand got involved in an argument with her NBA boyfriend Ryan Anderson over her suspicions that he was being unfaithful. During the argument, Anderson told Allemand that he no longer loved her and wanted a split. A few hours later, Gia’s mother frantically called Anderson to check on Gia as she was acting bizarre on a phone call with her.

Anderson went to Gia’s apartment in New Orleans and discovered Gia hanging from a spiral staircase with a vacuum cord wrapped around her neck. Anderson was able to get Gia down and attempted CPR. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was put on life support. Two days later she was pronounced dead. The official cause of death was suicide by hanging. Gia Allemand was just 29 years old at the time of her death.

Keep Your Pimp Hand Strong…Style

Many wrestlers have agreed that Dan Spivey was an extremely tough individual in and out of the ring. According to both the Undertaker (who teamed with Spivey as a member of the Skyscrapers) and Brutus Beefcake (Who wrestled a program with Greg Valentine against Spivey and Mike Rotundo) Spivey worked another job when he wasn’t wrestling.

Both have claimed that Dan Spivey worked at a popular gentlemen’s club in the Tampa, Florida area. Spivey didn’t just run the day to day operations of the club, but also the after hours of the club as well. Spivey allegedly worked as a pimp for the dancers…who would get paid for sex with various clients. According to the Undertaker, Dan Spivey was known as “Top Dollar Dan, the Left Hand Man.”

Billy Balls

Former Major League baseball manager Billy Martin was hired by the WWF to work as the special guest ring announcer for the inaugural Wrestlemania. Both the late Pat Patterson and Gene Okerlund claimed that Martin was a handful to work with leading up and during the event. Okerlund claimed he did a sit down interview with Billy Martin hyping his appearance and was completely drunk. Okerlund made Martin wear sunglasses to hide his bloodshot eyes and lead the interview by asking simple questions that Okerlund could help Martin be guided through.

On the night of Wrestlemania, Pat Patterson claimed that Martin was again drunk and decided to pick a fight with Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorff backstage. Realizing the importance of this show was for the survival of the company, Patterson stepped in and separated Martin from Orndorff. That apparently led Martin to start shoving Patterson and attempt to fight him. Patterson said he lost his cool and was ready to slug Martin, but at the last minute just walked away from the situation.

Can’t Shake Trouble

Michael Elgin was arrested in Japan for allegedly stealing protein shake mix from a gym in July of 2022. He was then reportedly deported back to Canada after being released from custody. Elgin vehemently denied those reports by saying…

“I’m not going to bother saying what happened, but I am going to say. I was not charged for stealing protein,” I’m not charged at all, I am not facing jail time. I’m also not deported. I am going to Canada to be with my family after the passing of an extremely close family member.”

“I completely understand people don’t ever want to believe anything other than what they wish were true. I’m not going to debate with people,” But, I am on my scheduled flight home. Also, first class. Doesn’t seem like deportation.”

Regardless if the initial report was inaccurate, something did happen that caused police to detain Elgin and in doing so, he was removed from all of his future bookings from Pro Wrestling NOAH.
