This is the 410th installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involves such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series…I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.

In the Name of the Father and the Son

Dutch Mantell recalls a story that involved Dick Slater and the Orton family of Bob Orton Sr and Bob Orton Jr. Slater had a match with a young and arrogant Orton Jr that did not go well. After the match ended, Slater went in to the dressing area and confronted Orton Jr. The two wrestlers exchanged words and then it led to a physical confrontation.

Apparently, Slater brutally pummeled Orton Jr and did it right in front of Orton’s father. After Slater stopped beating on Junior…Slater got in Bob Orton Sr’s face and challenged him to a fight as well. The elder Orton declined to fight, saying that Slater’s issue was with his son and not him. The father believed his son deserved his beating and taught him a valuable lesson.

Daggitt All to Hell

Roger ‘The Ape’ Daggitt was a powerlifter and former professional wrestler, who possessed uncanny strength and athletic ability. Daggitt was also an alleged enforcer for the Hell’s Angels chapter in Vancouver, British Columbia. It was alleged that Daggitt would carry out tasks like collecting money from associates of the biker gang and carrying out hits. Daggitt was accused of ordering the murder of a former friend and stockbroker named Ray Ginnetti in 1990. Ginnetti supposedly owed money to the Hell’s Angels.

On October 6, 1992, Daggitt was at the Turf Hotel in Surrey, British Columbia having a beer with his son. A man entered the bar and shot Daggitt three times in the back of his head in front of other patrons including his own son. The man who murdered Daggitt was a contract killer from Montreal named Serge Robin.

Robin would eventually be arrested and charged with Daggitt’s murder. He was sentenced to life in a maximum security penitentiary. In January of 2021, Serge Robin was granted a full parole due to his diagnosis of having terminal cancer. Roger Daggitt was 39 years old at the time of his death.

Friend with Benefits

Marty Jannetty says that he and former ECW valet/wrestler Elektra were very close friends at one point. So close, he claims, that the two would fool around from time to time. After Elektra’s wrestling career ended, she managed a few strip clubs in the northeast. Jannetty says that Elektra would often set him up with a variety of strippers to sleep with whenever he was in her area.

He recalled one time he had a party at his house with fellow wrestler Pat Tanaka. Elektra showed up with a few strippers and they all allegedly did an assortment of drugs. The next morning, Jannetty woke up to find all the strippers still in his house, so he grabbed a gun and fired a round up into the ceiling and everybody scattered and left.

Konnor’s Ascension From Alcoholism

Ryan Parmeter formerly known as ‘Konnor’ in WWE revealed his battle with alcoholism during his wrestling career. He said he started drinking in the 11th grade and just got progressively worse throughout the years…especially while on the road with WWE. His alcohol consumption led to him ballooning in weight and after he and his Ascension tag team partner Viktor were released…his drinking became more prevalent.

His wife called him out as an alcoholic, which at first he denied. It did get him thinking that maybe he did have an issue. When the Covid pandemic hit…Parmeter made a commitment to stop drinking and get back into shape. Currently, he is proud to announce he has been sober for over a year.
