This is the 401st installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involve such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series, I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.

Several wrestlers…one of which was Hercules Hernandez…went to a casino to gamble and blow off some steam. During the course of the evening, Hercules became intoxicated and was getting loud and obnoxious towards staff and other casino patrons. The management decided to cut off his liquor and that got Hercules angry. Hercules allegedly started groping the waitresses and that led to security being called.
Security tried several times to get Herc to leave the casino…but he refused. The situation quickly escalated into a physical confrontation with several security guards getting beat down by the drunken wrestler. It allegedly took 10 to 15 guards to hold Hercules down and was subsequently arrested on several charges including disorderly conduct.

Don Kindred was a wrestler who went under various aliases such as ‘Black Magic’ and ‘The Brown Bomber.’ His career spanned from 1950 until 1961. Kindred wrestled throughout the territories like Stampede, Pacific Northwest, NWA Australia and the Atlantic Grand Prix. In March of 1952, while living in Montreal, Canada…Kindred was brutally beaten by three men and a woman in the basement of an apartment complex.
Police were called, because neighbors thought they heard gun shots coming from the basement. When police arrived, they discovered Kindred unconscious and beaten nearly to death. He was not shot as reported earlier. Eventually, three men were arrested in suspicion of the assault. No official motive was ever given, but quite possibly could have stemmed from Kindred’s race. After a year off for recovery, Kindred continued his wrestling career. No word of the fate of the three individuals arrested in this case.

While at a WWF show in Pennsylvania in 1984, ‘Dr. D. David Schultz was preparing for his match in the locker room. According to Schultz, his opponent for that evening was a local wrestler named AJ Petruzzi. Petruzzi approached Schultz and introduced himself. He then mentioned that he was from the area and that family and friends were in attendance. Petruzzi asked if he could get about 50 percent of the offense in the match, to look good to all his friends. Schultz asked “Who the F are you?” and told AJ Petruzzi no.

David Schultz claimed that Petruzzi became angry and started punching the lockers. Schultz then said he back hand slapped the wrestler across his face and then pummeled him while he was down.
