This is the 362nd installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involve such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series, I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.

Vince BlackMahon

In 1996, Ahmed Johnson made WWE history when he defeated Goldust to become the first ever black Intercontinental champion. As historic a moment as that was for WWE and Ahmed Johnson, Ahmed admitted it wasn’t universally accepted by the rest of the locker room. According to Johnson, he said his title victory led to a great deal of resentment and racism. He claims that somebody carved “Congratulations Ni–er!” on his car.

Ahmed Johnson also claimed that somebody left him a stuffed monkey with a little noose tied around its neck in his locker. Johnson said he approached Vince McMahon with these claims and said while McMahon initially seemed supportive and get to the bottom of the harassment, nothing was ever done. Johnson said of McMahon being a racist….“He was one from the word go, but I had no idea of what he was. You know, I always say The best trick the devil ever pulled off was hiding in plain sight. If you read the Bible, everything the devil ever did he didn’t hide. He did it in plain sight. That’s Vince McMahon.”

A Family re- Union

In 2017, CMLL star Ultimo Guerrero had his expensive sports car vandalized by fellow luchadors in the parking garage of Arena Mexico. The culprits included  La Mascara (the then CMLL World Light Heavyweight Champion) and Maximo Sexy (the then CMLL World Heavyweight Champion) AAA’s Psycho Clown and Robin. They are members of the Alvarado family of wrestlers. The reason they vandalized Guerrero’s car, was payback for Ultimo Guerrero getting the position of the head of the wrestlers union (A position that was previously held by Brazo De Oro aka Jesus Alvarado until he died that year.) The Alvarado family felt the position should have remained with the family, but instead Guerrero was selected….even though he really didn’t want it.

The vandalization of Guerrero’s vehicle was caught on camera. The end result saw both La Mascara and Maximo Sexy fired from CMLL. Ultimo Guerrero, who is also one of the bookers of CMLL, vowed to press criminal charges against all the members of the Alvarado family who were present during the destruction of his car.

High-lighted Paige

WWE’s Paige confessed to her battles with drugs and alcohol abuse. She said that she first experimented with drugs at a concert when she was just 15 years old. Paige, who is a member of a wrestling family, said that she was robbed of a normal childhood and turned to both drugs and alcohol because of it. As she became more popular in pro wrestling, she began hanging with the wrong crowds of friends who she said just used her for her fame and money.

She admittedly almost had a Britney Spears like mental breakdown and wanted to shave off all of her hair and disappear away from the spotlight. Instead, she just continued to drink and use drugs. She failed WWE’s drug test twice which got her suspended. Paige credited the promotion for sticking by her and offering her help to get herself clean and sober. As of this writing, Paige has not had a drink in two years or used a drug in three years.

If You’re Feelin’ Froggy…Jump!

Frogman LeBlanc was a journeyman wrestler from the 1980’s and 1990’s who wrestled for various promotions and territories including World Class Championship Wrestling, USWA, NWA and Memphis. He got a late start in professional wrestling, beginning his career at 35 years old. He also holds the distinction of being the first man to ever wrestle a young Steve Austin.

William ‘Paul Bearer’ Moody once recalled a story where LeBlanc was having a match in his home state of Louisiana. After LeBlanc lost, his opponent started kayfabe beating Frogman down. LeBlanc’s brother was in attendance for the match, but wasn’t up to speed on how pro wrestling worked. Seeing his brother getting beat up, he rushed the ring to help him. His opponent had no idea that was LeBlanc’s brother and legitimately broke his brother’s arm.
