This is the 334th installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involve such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series, I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.
Here’s A Tip; Don’t Touch My Wife!

Before he transformed into the ‘Samoan Bulldozer’ Umaga…Eddie Fatu was known as ‘Jamal’ in WWE. In November of 2002, Fatu and his wife were at a bar, when his wife allegedly became drunk and a bit disorderly. She reportedly knocked over the bartender’s tip jar and that led bar security to confront her. The bouncer asked her and Eddie Fatu to leave and when she refused, the bouncer grabbed her arm. Eddie Fatu saw this and allegedly slapped the bouncer’s hands off his wife and then threatened the bouncer with physical harm.
The bouncer (who was reportedly an off duty cop) and Fatu got into a physical altercation with the cop hitting Fatu with a flash light and another bouncer jumping on Fatu’s back to take him down. When the police arrived at the scene, Eddie had to be restrained and taken to a local hospital for some cuts and bruises. On the way to the hospital, Eddie allegedly began threatening to kill the cops in the ambulance with him. Eddie Fatu was ultimately arrested for the incident. The WWE would suspend him for 30 days due to the arrest.
Tougher Than A Two Dollar Steak

In 1949, Dory Funk Sr. took his wife and two boys out to a steakhouse in Amarillo, Texas. While Dory Sr and his wife sat at one table in the restaurant, his two children Dory Jr and Terry sat at another. According to Terry who was around 5 or 6 years old at the time…a man walked up to the kids table and sat himself down. The man then began asking the youngest Funk questions about the inner workings of professional wrestling.
It was an attempt, perhaps, to get the young Funk to admit that his father’s profession was “fake.” While the young Terry Funk wasn’t yet up to speed on kayfabe…his older brother Dory Jr was. Dory Jr left his table and alerted his father about what was happening. Dory Sr then approached the unidentified man and began pummeling him in a restaurant filled with patrons. Years later, Terry would go on to say that it was the first time in his life that he saw someone get beat up badly.
Mask Murder

Francisco Javier Lizarraga Meza was a luchador who wrestled under the moniker of Anubis Black. While he was walking with his girlfriend, he was shot at least eight times. He was pronounced dead on the street. Meza was just 32 years old. The murder of the wrestler wasn’t a random one however. Police had determined it was a revenge killing.
Meza was wanted for a double homicide that took place three months earlier. In that case, Meza had allegedly walked up to couple and shot both of them dead. A witness identified Meza as one of the shooters in that case. Meza had been on the run ever since until he turned up dead.
Green Feeling Blue

Former WWE wrestler Chelsea Green revealed her life long battle with mental health issues. Chelsea readily admitted to suffering with depression which at times led her to self harm. Pro wrestling has helped her deal with her depression, but warns that it is necessary not to be embarrassed by it and seek help if you feel you need it.
