This is the 307th installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involve such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series, I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.

The Best That Never Will Be

During his run with World Championship Wrestling, Bret Hart revealed that he had to deal with multiple stalkers. One woman stalked him online and called herself ‘Nasty Girl.’ She acted as if the two were a romantic couple and threatened to kill the Hitman several times because he would ignore her. Bret claims he approached WCW management about his stalkers and apparently they did nothing to help him deal with it.

Another situation occurred when Bret was at a car rental place and spotted a woman he recognized that would often follow him. Bret alerted the manager of the rental place to call the police. When the police showed up, they escorted Hart to his vehicle and went to question the woman. Bret said that the woman had a knife and tried to attack the cop. She was subdued, arrested and sent to jail and never saw the stalker again.

Pain in Spain

Jose Olivares was an amateur boxer who competed for Spain in the 1948 Olympic Games. After an unsuccessful professional boxing career…Olivares was offered a chance to become a professional wrestler by a promoter in Spain. Olivares would use the name ‘Jim Oliver’ and win the European Middleweight title in 1951.

Oliver allegedly had a very bad temperament both in and out of the ring. In 1952, during a wrestling match…Oliver got into a legitimate argument with the referee and punched the official. He knocked out several of the referee’s teeth. Jim Oliver would be banned from wrestling in Spain for a full year as punishment.

Rock in A Hard Place

Missy Hyatt revealed details of the issues she was dealing with while working for WCW. As you may recall, Missy filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against the company back in 1994. Hyatt claims that as soon as she split from her then husband the late’Hot Stuff’ Eddie Gilbert in 1989…the first call she received was from ‘The Rock’ Ole Anderson. Hyatt alleges that Anderson called her up and asked her if it was true that she broke up with Gilbert.

When Missy said yes….Ole allegedly asked her to come to the WCW offices and give him a blow job. Missy taken back just declined Ole’s proposition and hung up the phone. Another time, Missy wore an all leather outfit and claims that Eric Bischoff said that she would look great naked under it. Missy told Bischoff maybe your wife would like to borrow it and did. She claims Bischoff never returned the outfit…nor reimbursed her for it.

Teen Angst

In January of 2020, Major League Wrestling (MLW) announced the signing of ring announcer Mark Adam Haggerty. It was the first openly gay ring announcer to be signed to a nationally televised wrestling promotion. Haggerty had vast experience as both a ring announcer and commentator for several independent promotions in both the United States and the United Kingdom.

In June of 2020….MLW announced Haggerty’s firing from the company. It all stemmed from a series of screenshots published by the family of a 15 year old teenager. The teen’s family claims that that Haggerty sent a bunch of inappropriate texts to their child. Even after the teen announced that they were only 15 more than once…Haggerty allegedly continued sending lewd comments. When confronted with the allegations, Haggerty claimed he blocked the 15 year old as soon as he discovered the teen’s age. The family claims that it was them that blocked Haggerty instead.
