Today on the blog, we ask…’Whatever Happened to’ WWF backstage interviewer Lucas? Like an earlier ‘Whatever Happened to’ we did on WCW’s Marie…you may be asking yourself WHO is that?!? You are certainly not alone, as Lucas’ television career was pretty short lived.

If you were paying attention to WWF programming in the late 1990’s…in particular 1999…you may have noticed an obscure backstage interviewer. Like many stars of of the company, this particular interviewer simply went by just a first name…Lucas. Lucas was a young man in his 20’s who did several interviews on Sunday Night Heat with the likes of The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin and X-Pac.

Usually, the interviews would break down with Lucas getting made fun of. In total, Lucas only appeared on 10 episodes of Sunday Night Heat. He also made a couple of appearances on Monday Night Raw as a backstage interviewer. Aside from his work on WWF TV, Lucas was also instrumental in helping get WWF.com off the ground. He worked alongside WWF staff to help the company get into the age of the internet in the mid 1990’s.

Lucas also made some appearances on WWF.com’s show ‘Byte This.’ When Vince McMahon started up the original XFL in 2001, Lucas transitioned over to help start their dot com get started. He even hosted a segment called the X – Zone which answered questions from fans and gave out information about the league.

So the question remains…Whatever Happened to Lucas? After the XFL folded, Lucas Swineford went to work for the United States Tennis Association and eventually returned to WWE as a manager for their mobile and broadband video departments. He then became an adjunct professor for Quinnipiac University and is currently the head of Yale University’s IT department. Lucas Swineford resides in Connecticut with his wife and child.
