The ‘If Factor’ are a series of articles that takes a look at real scenarios in pro wrestling that at one point or another were suggested, planned, considered…but did not get the green light to continue. What would the landscape of professional wrestling look like if these ideas came to fruition?

The If: The Briscoe Brothers Join the Wyatt Family in 2013

The Briscoe Brothers (Mark and Jay) were one of the most decorated tag teams in all of professional wrestling. While never really breaking through to a major promotion for the majority of their careers, the Briscoes found success elsewhere like Ring of Honor and various independent groups. That all could have been vastly different for the duo in 2013.

At the time, Mark and Jay were offered NXT developmental contracts. Mark said that the lure of wrestling on a bigger stage was extremely tempting. He revealed that the plans for them extended to the main roster, where they would debut in their backyard of Baltimore, Maryland on the July 8th, 2013 episode of Monday Night Raw and become members of the Wyatt family. Unfortunately the idea never came to fruition.

Past social media posts deemed homophobic were made public and WWE management supposedly withdrew their offer to the brothers. The Briscoes ended up re-signing with Ring of Honor and never again received an offer from WWE. What if the Briscoes joined WWE and became members of the Wyatt Family? How different would the faction look like? Sadly, Jay Briscoe died in a tragic car crash, but how different would the careers of Mark and Jay be today?
