The ‘If Factor’ are a series of articles that takes a look at real scenarios in pro wrestling that at one point or another were suggested, planned, considered…but did not get the green light to continue. What would the landscape of professional wrestling look like if these ideas came to fruition?

The If: Scott Levy Joins Los Gringos Locos Faction in Mexico
In the early 1990’s, Scott Levy (better known as Raven) was offered a spot in one of the all time hottest factions in Mexican wrestling. Levy was invited to come down and wrestle for AAA in Mexico and join Los Gringos Locos which also included Art Barr and Eddie Guerrero. According to Levy, it was Art Barr who reached out to him and made the offer. Gringos Locos was initially just supposed to be a tag team, but their increasing popularity made Barr and Guerrero expand the tag team into a faction.
Art Barr was very familiar with Levy, as he knew him from Levy’s days working in the Portland, Oregon territory as ‘Scotty the Body.’ Levy said Barr wanted him to portray the exact same gimmick in Mexico and felt that it would get over huge. Levy was supposedly all set to make the trip to Mexico to have his run in the AAA faction, until he says Konnan stepped in at the last minute. Konnan, who himself was a really big star in Mexico wanted to take that spot offered to Levy. Levy accused Konnan of badmouthing him to AAA’s promoter and making Levy look dangerous and unreliable.
The offer was ultimately pulled back and Konnan did in fact join the faction. Levy said that he had bad blood with Konnan over that incident for a while, but the two eventually met up and talked it out and are now friends instead of enemies. Levy said he no longer held a grudge against Konnan. What if Scott actually got to go to Mexico and join Los Gringos Locos? More than likely we may never have seen his Raven gimmick in ECW develop. His entire career could have drastically changed.
