A gimmick is something that is intended to hook the attention of fans to a wrestler. They may be outrageous or steeped more in reality, whatever the case may be…some have succeeded and many others have failed. The Gimmick Table takes a look at the origins of some of your favorite and not so favorite gimmicks of professional wrestlers.
Today we browse the gimmick of Nikki A.S.H.

In 2021, after several months of being used infrequently on WWE television, Nikki Cross came up with an idea for a new gimmick. She wanted to combine her love of superhero cartoons and movies and create an inspirational type of character. A superhero of sorts, that did not necessarily have super strength, super speed or the ability to fly, but had one special quality…kindness. Cross felt that she could create a superhero that little boys and girls could look up to an aspire to be.
She said she used both her love of superheroes and her admiration for a former WWE star in Hurricane Helms. Cross said she leaned a lot on Helms who was serving as a road agent for the company on how to develop this new character. She presented the idea to Vince McMahon who was 100% in support of her to try something different. She came up with every detail to the gimmick including the blue and gold colors, the mask, cape and name.
She referred to herself as Nikki A.S.H. or otherwise known as Nikki Almost Super Hero. Her logo was a butterfly with lightning bolts surrounding it. She said the butterfly represented her transforming into this new character and the lightning bolts gave her her “spark.” After over a year using the superhero gimmick, winning Money in the Bank, the Raw women’s title and eventually turning the character heel….WWE decided to toss it in 2022 and return her character to being psychotic.
