Robert Segedy
Many people will have fond memories of this wrestler: his real name was Conrad Efraim, March 30, 1945-October 26, 2008, and he was from Antiqua. He was discovered and trained by the “Unpredictable” Johnny Rodz who introduced him to Vince McMahon Sr. McMahon Sr. gave him the nickname “Special Delivery” Jones because he was delivered personally to him. Jones fell out of good graces when he was asked by Vince Sr. to wrestle barefoot, and he refused. The rest of his career he essentially was a mid-card jobber.
Jones began working for the NWA Mid-Atlantic organization under the name of Roosevelt Jones where he formed a tag team with his kayfabe cousin, Rufus R. Jones. The duo had a memorable feud with the Andersons (Ole and Gene). On January 17, 1975, after leaving the Mid-Atlantic territory for California, he won the first of three tag team titles after partnering with Porkchop Cash, where they won the NWA Americas Tag Team Championship after defeating the Hollywood Blondes (Buddy Roberts and Jerry Brown). The duo won the titles once again in 1977, where S.D. teamed with Tom Jones to defeat the team of Black Gordon and Goliath. They dropped the titles only to regain them yet again on November 18,1977.

Jones joined the WWWF on April 25, 1974, when he faced Nikolai Volkoff in Trenton, New Jersey. Jones wrestled for the WWWF as a mid-card babyface who could give the heels difficulty but ended up losing. He occasionally did win some matches when he was facing other fellow mid card talents such as Johnny Rodz. Jones often partnered with Tony Atlas when they challenged Mr. Fuji and Mr. Saito for the WWF Tag Team Championship in 1981. On one occasion, the two men ended up as the final contestants in a battle royal and they flipped a coin to determine a winner of the contest. S.D. Jones was long considered the best babyface jobber by many of the fans.
At a 1979 TV taping, Jones helped put over Greg “The Hammer” Valentine when Valentine locked in his signature figure four leglock but refused to break the hold. Jones ended up doing a stretcher job and later appeared at Madison Square Garden with his leg in a cast.
Jones was the tag team partner of Andre the Giant on November 13, 1984, when Andre’s hair was cut by Ken Patera and Big John Studd. Jones lost to King Kong Bundy at the inaugural WrestleMania in a record seventeen seconds.

Jones was a serious workhorse for the WWF, and he wrestled 240 matches per year; twice he wrestled over 300 matches in a single year: 302 in 1978 and 305 in 1984. His last match was in New York City at Madison Square Garden on October 19, 1990, losing by pinfall to “Iron” Mike Sharpe.
After leaving the WWF, Jones wrestled for Herb Abrams’ Universal Wrestling Federation as well as Universal Wrestling Superstars in New York City. Jones finally retired from the sport in 1995.

In 2006, he appeared for the WWE inducting his old partner Tony Atlas to the WWE Hall of Fame. Jones was eventually added to the WWE Hall of Fame on April 7, 2019, as a legacy inductee.
Jones died from a stroke while in Antiqua on October 26, 2008.
