We return with even more completely and utterly useless pro wrestling facts, stats and trivia bits to keep you entertained (I think). Whatever the case is, these wrestling facts may be stuff you already know or you may not. They are simply meant for fun and if we can learn something from nothing…that’s a win/win! So let us educate the masses with some of this nonsense, shall we?

Andre the Giant was announced as the first participant to enter the 1991 Royal Rumble. This was to push Andre for one last babyface run with the WWF. He was originally booked to win the match, but unfortunately his health was beginning to seriously deteriorate and ultimately was pulled from the match. Hulk Hogan ended up winning it. The Honkytonk Man was also booked and advertised for that Royal Rumble, but had quit the company a few weeks prior.

ECW wrestler Chilly Willy, joined the military and served in Iraq immediately after ECW folded in 2001. He was wounded in combat and received the Purple Heart.

The late President Ronald Reagan was a pro wrestling fan. He was a big Crusher fan and actually invited the Crusher to events that he had when in the state of Wisconsin.

Before Torrie Wilson paired up with Sable for Playboy in 2004, the magazine and WWE wanted Stacy Keibler to pose, but she turned down the offer. Keibler also turned down the opportunity to become WWE Women’s champion, saying that she felt undeserving of the title and more skilled women deserved it.

‘Hacksaw’ Jim Duggan was the last WCW Television champion and possessed the title belt long after WCW folded. He sold the belt on eBay for $7,080.

Ken Resnick was hired by the World Wrestling Federation in 1986, after having an interview with Vince McMahon. Vince looked at Resnick and told him to shave his mustache right then and there, which Resnick did. McMahon was impressed he shaved his mustache on the spot and offered him a job.

John Cena and Bret Hart are the only two wrestlers to appear on The Simpsons. Also, Bret Hart is the only wrestler to appear on both the Simpsons and American Dad animated programs.

Wrestler Bobby Shane loaned a young Jerry Lawler his crown and cape in 1975. Shane then tragically died in a plane crash, before Lawler could return the items back to him. Thus marked the birth of ‘The King’ Jerry Lawler.

Stan Frazier (Uncle Elmer in the WWF) had a son Christopher Frazier who wrestled primarily in the Memphis territory from 1993 until around 2002.

Bruno Sammartino recalled his one on one match against Pedro Morales at Shea Stadium back in 1972. Bruno said that during the match, Morales “blew up” and became severely dehydrated. So much so, Pedro began licking the sweat off of Sammartino’s body to get some sort of liquid into his system.

Before the Miz was seen using the upside down ‘W’ on the microphone and on merchandise, Matt Hardy was the original inventor of the look. He had merchandise created for his Mattitude gimmick, but it was never used.

Jim Ross was the Head of WWE’s Talent Relations for several years. During that time, Ross signed a number of young wrestlers that became huge superstars for the company including John Cena, Randy Orton, Dave Bautista, Brock Lesnar, Shelton Benjamin and countless others. The very last talent that Jim Ross signed during his WWE tenure was Ken ‘Dykstra’ Doane. Mostly remembered for his time competing in the Spirit Squad faction.
