This is the story of Bo and Jack Dupp aka The Dupp cousins or also known as simply The Dupps. A tag team that was signed to a WWF developmental deal in 2000 and by 2001 were both gone from the company amid rumored controversy.
The Dupps were a tag team that were formed in the Hardy Boyz wrestling promotion called OMEGA in the 1990’s. They consisted of Bo Dupp and Jack Dupp who in kayfabe were cousins that lived in the backwoods of Lizard Lick, North Carolina. The team got their first big break after sending an audition tape to Paul Heyman and ECW. Tommy Dreamer said it was one of the most creative and funniest audition tapes he had ever seen. Bo and Jack were then brought into the company.

The Dupps were paired with another former Hardy Boyz protege in Marty Garner who was renamed ‘Puck Dupp’ and served as the team’s manager. Puck Dupp had a brief taste of the big time in the mid 90’s as an enhancement talent for the WWF. Marty Garner is infamous for taking a Hunter Hearst Helmsley Pedigree that nearly ended his wrestling career. Garner When Triple H hooked Garner’s arms to give him his finisher, Garner mistaked the move for a double hooked power bomb and attempted to jump up and flip over. Instead, Garner landed straight down on his head…injuring his neck.

Getting back to the Dupps team in ECW, Bo and Jack had a brief run feuding with the likes of Kid Kash and Super Nova as well as Danny Doring and Amish Roadkill. Despite ECW now airing on a major cable outlet like TNN, the Dupps did not have a contract with the company. They were both supposedly on pay per appearance deals. It wasn’t long before Bo and Jack Dupp jumped ship and signed a developmental deal with the WWF in 2000. The Dupps finished up their ECW obligations by losing to Doring and Roadkill in a ‘Loser Leaves ECW’ match.

The Dupps came to the WWF under their original gimmick that of backwoods rednecks who wore dirty clothes and overall looked unkempt. Eventually, they were cleaned up and wore more modern wrestling gear for the times. They would wrestle several dark matches before RAW against the likes of the Mean Street Posse, the Haas Brothers and Christian York & Joey Matthews. It all appeared that the Dupps were poised to make it onto the main roster.

That is when things began to fall apart for the team. The first domino to fall was Bo Dupp…the wild brawler of the team. It was heavily rumored to have taken place during Wrestlemania X-7 in Houston, Texas. Linda McMahon was backstage in the Astrodome and stumbled upon Bo who was either asleep or passed out from being drunk. Bo Dupp was later released from the company.

With Bo Dupp no longer with the WWF, Jack Dupp was given a gimmick makeover. He dropped the Dupp name and was repacked and sent down to the WWF’s developmental territory…Ohio Valley Wrestling. His new name was ‘Mike Hard’ and he remained in OVW until August of 2001. Mike Hard lost a ‘Loser Leaves OVW’ match to Nick ‘Eugene’ Dinsmore. He was subsequently released from the company after the match.
It was revealed before his release that Mike had carried on an affair with Jerry Lawler’s wife Stacy Carter. The affair led to the divorce between Lawler and Carter. The two apparently met while the Dupps were wrestling for Memphis Championship Wrestling ( a WWF developmental territory) owned by Lawler. In his very last match affiliated with the WWF, Mike Hard (Jack Dupp) wore a Miss Kitty Stacy Carter tee shirt in an act of defiance. Dupp moved in with Stacy, living in Lawler’s Florida condo. The Dupps had subsequently became no more in the WWF.

It was rumored that the affair between Carter and Dupp cost both their careers in wrestling, as both were rumored to be unofficially blackballed by the wrestling community. Bo Dupp, on the other hand, brought the Dupp gimmick to TNA wrestling in 2002 and teamed with another “cousin” named Stan Dupp aka Trevor Murdoch and a female named Fluff Dupp. The gimmick went back to its roots of being backwoods rednecks that hinted of having an incestuous affair with their cousin Fluff.
They lasted a little while until all the Dupps went their separate ways. What could have been for Bo and Jack if things were different in the Dupp oh U Dupp oh U F?
