Trained by former NWA World Heavyweight Champion, “Wildfire” Tommy Rich & Ghetto Blaster…comes one of the most respected guys in the locker room: Scotty Bullwinkle. When I was still in the backyard, me and my buddies would go watch the new promotion in town, the GWF(Georgia Wrestling Federation) where he was just getting his start. By the time I broke in, Scotty was already at the top of the cards. I would be on cards in NAWA, SGWA, GPXW, and R&B Entertainment and he was always the main event and well deserved. He would go on to work with NWA Wildside, Diamond Pro Wrestling, and Luke Gallows’ WrestleMerica. His ringwork was fluid and his mic skills were untouchable. One of the only guys that I seen can do it all. He can have an exciting straight old-school type match, go all out in a bloody hardcore brawl, or mix it up with the “name” guy you wanna bring in for a night. He would go on to win many titles all over Georgia including the APW World Championship, AIWF National Championship, R&B Heavyweight Championship, DPW World Championship, and many more. Check him out on YouTube as he had notable feuds with: Jake Slater, Nick Foley, Iceberg, Zicky Dice, Tetchi Makuji, Blade Walker, Goldust, and Buff Bagwell.

I reached out to Scotty and he was quick to respond and also took the time to answer a few questions for me. Here are some highlights from the interview:

•So, brother…let’s start at the beginning. I first saw you working security for GWF, but you obviously had prior training. You and Vordell were already miles ahead of that roster. Where did you get your initial start?

SB: I got my start with GWF for John Corsey. I started my training with David Rains. Very basic. I was later polished up by “Wildfire” Tommy Rich and Ghetto Blaster.

•You had a pretty successful tag team and feud with Blade Walker. Your memories of those matches and have you heard from him lately?

SB: Blade Walker was and still is one of my favorite partners I ever had in this biz. Me, Blade, and Jamie Hall all used to travel together. Blade truly pushed me to be a better performer in this biz because we always was trying to one up each other! I have many stories of all of that. We can save those for the shoot interview! LOL

•We could definitely do a shoot interview in the future. I bet that would be very, very interesting. As you know, Redd Groover discovered us(me, Vern, Pinky, and Vic) and got us started. I remember discussing upcoming shows with him and he would always put your name at the top of the page and work down. LOL. You gotta have a good story or two about working for R&B!!!

SB: Red and Billy…now those guys were a hoot!!! They did things their way. They didn’t give a damn what anyone else thought…and I absolutely loved it! I always looked forward to those Sunday shows at the Cracker Williams Rec Center building. I truly miss Redd. RIP!

•My buddy Pinky refereed the match in Lyons when you defeated the legendary Goldust. Great match by the way! Do you think Dustin is making the right choice by sticking with AEW instead of going to WWE right now with Cody being the champion? I mean, think about the possibilities on the table!!!

SB: My match with Goldust is THE MATCH that put me on the map as far as the Indies in Georgia. I learned so much from that one match! I Wish I had more time to sit under that learning tree! As far as staying in AEW, that guy knows this business…inside & out. I’m sure what ever choice he makes is gonna be the right one for him and his family.

•What’s in store for Scotty Bullwinkle in the year 2025?

SB:As far as Bullwinkle in 2025, my in-ring career is pretty much over . But in this biz, we never say never. I’ve been booking and promoting a show called Explosive Pro . I truly enjoy working backstage and trying to pass on the little knowledge that I have.
