Here we are gathered together to witness a bunch of useless wrestling facts, stats and trivia questions get all merged into one happy presentation. Some of these informational treasures are very well known, while others may not be. In any case, I hope you can sit back and enjoy the latest offering of wrestling facts. Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger is a New Japan Pro Wrestling legend and one of the promotion’s most decorated champions. Did you know that Liger was actually turned down on three separate occasions to join the New Japan Dojo when he started his career? The Dojo felt that Liger was too short and wouldn’t survive the training, so Liger went to Mexico to train to become a wrestler instead.

For the first time in WWE history, the WWE title has had five consecutive reigns of over 100 days.

Everyone is aware that Pat Patterson was the first ever WWWF Intercontinental champion when he won a ficticious tournament in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Did you know who he supposedly beat to win the title? It was none other than Johnny Rodz.
As of this writing, there have been exactly 17 even number winners and 17 odd number winners of the Royal Rumble match.
The Ascension were released from WWE on December 4, 2019. The last match the tag team had before their release was a loss to Heavy Machinery on April 19th, 2019. That was 8 months on inactivity in between.
Bull Nakano often teamed with a wrestler named Dump Matsumoto. Did you know that Bull was short for Bulldozer and Dump was short for Dump Truck? They also teamed with a wrestler named Crane Yu.
After Daniel Bryan was fired from WWE in 2010, former Ring of Honor co founder Gabe Sapolsky approached him and Paul Heyman about forming a new wrestling promotion. Bryan and Heyman turned Sapolsky down and he wound up finding other backers to form Evolve.

Jim Ross once told Samaoa Joe in 2001 that he wasn’t WWE material and wouldn’t make it in the company.

Charlotte Flair had more losses than any other female wrestler on the WWE’s roster in 2019 with 100. That included house shows.
Verne Gagne currently hold the record for oldest world champion for a major promotion. He was 55 years old when he last held the AWA world title. Second runner up is Vince McMahon who was 54 years old when he was WWE champion.
Former owner of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys Bum Bright once invested money and became a partner with Fritz Von Erich in World Class Championship Wrestling.
In 1997, there were plans to bring back the Papa Shango character to the WWF. He would be a much more sinister character to reflect the Attitude Era at the time. Charles Wright even did a photo shoot with the new face paint and look. It was ultimately scrapped and Wright was given a different gimmick.
Dusty Rhodes came up with the concept for War Games after watching the movie Mad Max: Beyond Thunder dome.
Before their famous encounter at Wrestlemania III, there was concern that Andre the Giant’s back and overall health wouldn’t hold up for the show. Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorff was chosen as an alternate to face Hulk Hogan just in case Andre couldn’t go.

La Sombra aka Andrade from WWE…was the first Mexican born wrestler to hold the New Japan Intercontinental championship.

The NXT UK faction known as Imperium consists of Walter, Alexander Wolfe, Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner. This wasn’t the first time this group was together. They were also a faction in Germany for WXW known as ‘Ringkampf’ before they signed with NXT. The only exception was Aichner was not a part of the original group.
As we know, Shawn Michaels had a big hand in helping train various wrestlers like Daniel Bryan, Paul London, Brian Kendrick and Lance Cade. There was one woman who graduated from Shawn Michaels Wrestling School and her name was Veronica Brazier. She competed for Ring of Honor and TNA wrestling. She still wrestles to this day as ‘Simply Luscious.’
Scott Steiner was once given five hours to live after getting injured during a match in Puerto Rico in 2007. He ended up in a coma for two days before making a full recovery.

WWE spent more money buying and renovating their WWF restaurant in New York, than they did in purchasing WCW. The total for WWF New York was 35 million dollars, while WCW cost 4.2 million.
The WWF once attempted to create a tag team tournament to rival the Jim Crockett Sr. Memorial Cup back in 1987 called the Frank Tunney Memorial Tag Team Tournament. It was held in Toronto, Canada and was won by the Killer Bees.
At Wrestle Kingdom 14, Tetsuya Naito made history by becoming the first ever wrestler to simultaneously hold the IWGP Intercontinental and IWGP Heavyweight titles. He also broke a 10 year long Wrestle Kingdom streak when he defeated Kazuchika Okada. It was the first time a wrestler not named Okada or Hiroshi Tanahashi won the Wrestle Kingdom main event since Shinsuke Nakamura at Wrestle Kingdom 4.
Abdullah the Butcher came out with a Disco song in Japan in the early 1980’s called ‘Butcher the Greatest.’
In 1984, after his wrestling career came to an end…Jesse ‘The Body’ Ventura tried to start a career in music. He formed a rock band called’The Soldiers of Fortune.’ They had two singles released called ‘The Body Rules’ and ‘Showdown with Mr V.’
