In the summer of 1999, WCW was trying hard to regain its past glory. The Monday Night Wars weren’t even considered a war anymore as the WWE’s Raw was decisively beating WCW’s Nitro in the ratings. An angle was drawn up to recapture fans imaginations. A sort of Who Dunnit?

‘Big Sexy’ Kevin Nash was the WCW World champion and with other top WCW stars injured (Hulk Hogan) or filming movies (Goldberg)….the top tier of the WCW roster was wearing thin. Randy Savage, who was also battling injuries at the time…was brought in to feud with Nash. It started with a set…where the Team Madness ladies consisting of Madusa, Gorgeous George and Mona invited Nash into their limo for a late evening rendezvous. As Nash entered the limo…Randy Savage revealed himself to be the driver and positioned the limousine in such a way where a huge white Humvee smashed repeatedly into the the side of the car Nash was in.

Nash tried to exit the vehicle a bloody and battered mess, but passed out while doing so. Who could have done such a dreadful act? Who was the driver of the hummer??? That would be the question asked on and off for close to a year. Until people stopped caring and logic went out the window. (No pun intended)

Well, we can obviously eliminate Savage as he was responsible for the set up. Was it one of Team Madness? Perhaps. What about the return after a 10 year absence…of Sid Vicious? After all, he aided Randy Savage in his title challenge of Big Kev six days after the incident…..it was most certainly him….right??? Nope.

The Total Package Lex Luger knew the answer and had a photo to back it up….the driver was in fact…Hulk Hogan. The only problem with Luger’s conclusion…was WCW management was still undecided.

Then the wrestling world was SHOCKED to see the man they call Sting in the driver’s seat of a hummer. Only one problem with this logic…the Hummer in question was white and Sting’s was black. Did WCW creative forget the rather small details of the color of the attempted murder vehicle?

For awhile the angle seemed to have been dropped as creative kept changing dance partners. Leave it to the management team to resurrect the dead angle and show another Hummer. It wasn’t Randy Savage, it wasn’t Sid Vicious, it wasn’t Hulk Hogan and it wasn’t Sting. Rena Mero was teased without mentioning her name as she was involved in a legitimate legal battle with the WWF. She went as far as appearing ringside on Nitro…but nothing came of that either.

I guess in a sense of desperation to tie everything together…the WCW fail safe….Eric Bischoff walked out of a white Hummer…signaling the end to this wretched storyline. No, Bischoff never admitted to being the driver…we just had to come to our own conclusions. The main problem with the Bischoff theory, was he was the man responsible for helping Kevin Nash (remember him, the victim?) in winning the WCW title right before this angle took place.

In reality…even though our last suspect was Eazy E…we never got confirmation…so it may have been someone else…but that was our last visual on this storyline.

Rumors were swirling that the real driver was expected to be actress Carmen Electra. She was legitimately good friends with Kevin Nash and Bischoff always loved to include celebrities into story arcs. Perhaps this idea was shot down after debacle after debacle with celebs being used on Nitro and WCW programming? Whatever the reasoning, it left a story without an ending and a Hummer without a driver. Come to think of it, maybe that’s the answer we were looking for all along? There was no driver. The End???
