He worked for both ECW and the WWF both behind the scenes and in front of the camera. Today on the blog, we ask…‘whatever happened to’ Lance Wright?
Lance Wright grew up as a big fan of professional wrestling mainly the World Wrestling Federation. Luckily a friend’s family member worked in production for the WWF and was able to secure Wright an internship in 1993. He worked under Howard Finkel and was used mainly to research information on local towns where the company held house show events. The information would then be fed to ‘Mean’ Gene Okerlund to reference while hosted WWF’s Live Event Center segments.

Wright would eventually be hired full time by the company as a production assistant. He remained with the WWF until about 1995, when he was laid off due to budget cuts. Wright would find other work in pro wrestling, when his friend from school and ECW announcer Joey Styles landed him a job with the promotion. Wright would once again work behind the scenes in production, but Paul Heyman felt he had the looks to work in front of the camera.

Lance Wright would become the host of ECW’s Hype Central where Wright would talk about all the shows ECW would hold around the northeast. Wright eventually quit the company after landing another job with the WWF. Wright was used as a ring announcer and backstage interviewer. Once the WWF and ECW formed a “secret” working agreement, Wright would return to ECW. This time he was used as a manager of a WWF faction called the ‘Wright Connection’ where Lance managed the likes of the Pitbulls, Doug Furnas and Phil LaFon and Brakkus.

After the angle fizzled out, Wright was let go from both companies. So, whatever happened to Lance Wright? Lance still resides in Stamford, Connecticut where he works as a supervisor for a Digital Marketing Agency.
