Look Who Showed Up In…

WWE 1993.

WWE in 1993 was a transitional year. The company was moving away from the last remnants of the “Golden Era” and edging toward what would become the “New Generation.”

After WWE (and Marty Jannetty) were sued by Chuck Austin over a botched move, the company began relying more heavily on familiar enhancement talent. The idea was simple: stick with performers they trusted—wrestlers who were properly trained and could safely take the moves (though not always without incident).

Some of these names would resurface in bigger ways later. Below is a look at the enhancement talent who appeared in WWE in 1993, and where their careers took them afterwards.

I stuck with 10 names, let me know in the comments if you know of any more.

01.  Al Snow.

Starting his career in 1982, it took Al quite a while to get in a WWE ring. He had three televised matches in 1993 (as Steve Moore), against The Undertaker, The Smoking Guns and future tag team partner, Marty Jannetty.

Al would have a successful career in WWE – winning the Hardcore, European and Tag Team Titles.

Al is now involved in OVW and as of 2025, is still wrestling regularly.

02. Gillberg

If you were a fan of the Attitude Era, you know who Gillberg is. Part of the JOB Squad, this Goldberg parody is still remembered today, with sparkler memes popping up on my feed weekly.

Duane Gill started doing enhancement work in 1990, and apart from ’96 & ’97 wrestled in WWE every year until 2000 although he has made appearances since with his latest being in 2021.

He wrestled as a turtle tag team (Toxic Turtles) and The Executioners (Executioner #1) and as himself too!

Duane retired from in ring action and his training school in 2020 but still can be found at conventions.

03.  Justin Credible

PJ Polaco trained in the early 90’s and made his WWE debut in 1993. In this year he was in the ring with the top stars of this era, Jeff Jarrett, IRS, Crush, Diesel and more.

PJ would go on to get signed by WWE and become Aldo Montoya (story for another time) but would find more success in ECW as Justin Credible, winning the Tag Team and World titles.

Justin would have a short run with WWE after the closure of ECW, and has since fallen on hard times. We wish him all the best.

04.  Louie Spicolli

Louie Spicolli was one of those “What Could Have Been” talents. Louie first showed up in WWE way back in 1988 and was a consistent enhancement talent all the way to getting signed in 1995, where he became “Rad Radford”.

Louie also appeared in AAA, WCW, ECW, UWF, FMW and tons more. It was whilst Louie was in WCW that he passed away at the young age of 27.

05.  Mosh

Chaz Ware faced Papa Shango, Adam Bomb, Diesel and more during 1993 – which was his debut year in wrestling.

Chaz would make sporadic appearances in WWE, SMW, and even IWA Mid-South – before reappearing in WWE as one half of the Headbangers (as Mosh).

Which brings us to…

06.  Thrasher

Glen Ruth started a couple of years before his teammate, appearing in both WWE and WCW in 1990. Glen would travel to Japan for AJPW and have a few matches in ECW before teaming with Mosh as The Headbangers (and as Sisters of Love, Spiders and the Flying Nuns).

The Headbangers won the WWE Tag Team Championship in 1997 and would stay with the company until 2000 (with Mosh staying on until the next year.

They both would work the indy scene and still wrestle regularly now. They also popped back up in WWE in 2016, and ROH in 2012.

07.  Nova

One of my favourite wrestlers in the dying days of ECW. It was said that Nova would invent a move and it would be stolen by the next Monday on WWE/WCW.

Mike Bucci debuted in 1993 and had 7 televised matches in WWE, facing Crush, Adam Bomb, Mr Huges and more.

Bucci would become part of the nWo parody, bWo in ECW as Nova. During the last few years of ECW, Mike slimmed down and became very good in the ring.

Nova would transform into Simon Dean in WWE 2004 and then take a job behind the scenes as his career winded down. Mike hasn’t wrestled in a few years (last noted match was in 2022) and is reported to be working in finance now.

08.  Big Vito

Big Vito LoGrasso, Vito, Vito Cruz, Vito Krus, Vito LoGrasso, Skull von Crush…I could go on.

Possibly remembered most for being a wrestler who chose to wear a dress in WWE.
Vito LoGrasso first made an appearance for WWE (and WCW) in 1991. He continued to be used as enhancement talent throughout 1992 and 1993 (and having a try-out match in 1997).
Vito had a brief stint in ECW (he managed to upset New Jack) before joining WCW.

He would hold the WCW Tag Team Championship with Johnny the Bull and the Hardcore title.

Vito resurfaced in WWE in 2005 with the aforementioned gimmick and that was about all. Although he took a few years break, he is still wrestling in 2025.

09.  Micky Jay

I know right, the ref? According to my sources, Micky didn’t wrestle too much, he wrestled a total of 7 matches in WWE, facing Skinner, Repo Man and others.

He would be more known as a referee in Florida, then WCW before joining WWE in 2005. Mickey retired in 2009. Unfortunately, Mickey passed away in 2022.

10.  Jason Knight

The Sexiest Man on Earth – Jason. An ECW Original. Jason Knight started wrestling in 1990 and wrestled for WCW and WWE.

In 1993, he wrestled Lex Luger, Mr Hughes, Terry Taylor and more. Jason is more known for his time in ECW where he held the ECW Television Championship, and would go on to manage stars such as Justin Credible.

What you may not know is that Jason is a respected trainer, training Velvet Sky and Mercedes Martinez to name a couple. He still has a wrestling school called Assault Championship Wrestling and has wrestled as recently as this past Halloween in Italy.

Thanks for taking time to read this, it is my first effort – so any criticism will be encouraged and noted.

Hit me up on social media, where I will be posting highlights of WWE 1993 – and other random and nerdy stuff:
