A Moment of Silence
We are all aware of when the bigger stars or personalities in pro wrestling pass away. There are a ton of tributes and remembrances and justly so. At times, however, there are those wrestlers that pass and are overlooked or forgotten. Recently, the wrestling world lost someone that didn’t exactly set the squared circle on fire, but was certainly a trailblazer in his own right. ‘Silent’ Brian Mackney was a Canadian wrestler of Scottish heritage who wrestled for 26 years.
He wasn’t a main event talent by any stretch of the imagination. He wasn’t even a mid carder for that matter. Mackney was what many fans call a “jobber” or an enhancement talent. Someone that was in the business to make others look like a million bucks. Despite not being a real household name in pro wrestling, Brian Mackney wrestled in Canada, the NWA, All Japan, New Japan and even the WWF. Not too shabby of a resume for a so-called curtain jerker.
Now that in itself didn’t make Mackney special, what did was being one of the first wrestlers to be both deaf and mute. He was the first deaf/mute wrestler to ever compete in the WWF…years before NXT’s Myles Borne was even a thought. Brian Mackney was also nicknamed “punching bag” for taking beatings from the WWF’s top stars of the early 1980’s. He was passionate about the business and did his very best to help others get over.
In 2019, Mackney received a lifetime achievement award from Canadian promotion Great White North Wrestling. Brian Mackney was 77 years old at the time of his death.

Farewell Brian Mackney. You deserve more recognition.

Damn, how is it I’ve never heard of this Mackney guy?
Nick Hogan wrestling is a great idea. They can give him Bob Holly’s old gimmick…

Look up Nick Hogan and John Graziano. Nick is a POS. And he is still getting DUI’s.
