Answering the 10 Count: Devon ‘Hannibal’ Nicholson

October 30, 2025

Joe King

Hannibal “The Death Dealer” makes his return to the United States on Saturday, May 3rd, at the ECW Arena against Super Crazy. Standing at 6’4″ and weighing in at over 280 pounds, here is a guy who I always thought had a damn good chance of being the next big thing. Starting out as an amateur wrestler, he won a gold medal at the 2001 Junior National Championships in London, Ontario. A month later, he gained a spot on the Canadian Junior National Team after winning the National Team trials in Vancouver, British Columbia. He won the OFSAA wrestling high school championships in both 2000 and 2001 without a single point scored against him! While wrestling for the National Capital Wrestling club in Ottawa, he would also go on to win a silver medal in the 97 kg Greco-Roman wrestling event at the Canadian Olympic Trials.

Despite amateur wrestling success, Nicholson turned down scholarships to pursue his dream of becoming a professional wrestler. In 2001, he began training in the famed Hart Family Dungeon. He would go on to graduate the school and would get his start in Calgary’s Stampede Wrestling promotion. Hannibal was very successful in both IWA & WWC(World Wrestling Council)in Puerto Rico. There he reigned as the IWA Puerto Rico Intercontinental Champion and was a two-time WWC Tag Team Champion with Black Pain as Terror Inc. In GNW(Great North Wrestling) he held the GNW Canadian Title on 3 different occasion as he had major feuds with Rene Dupree, Darko, Wes Brisco, and PCO. He also has had several GNW Heavyweight Championship matches with Jeremy Prophet.

After having several tryouts with WWE, he was signed to a WWE contract in 2009. But after a blood-soaked feud and due to Abdullah The Butcher using a tainted razor blade that he already used on himself & others, he then bladed Devon and gave him Hepatitis C and the WWE rescinded their offer. After many grueling tests and procedures, he was cured of the disease. Legend & WWE Hall of Famer “Superstar” Billy Graham stuck by Hannibal through this ordeal and remained a close friend until his death. He then made his long-awaited return to the squared-circle as The Blood Hunter. As Blood Hunter, he would reign as the SWE Texas Heavyweight Champion and would be the last wrestler to ever be managed by the late, great “Taskmaster” Kevin Sullivan. Hannibal has had matches against numerous superstars and legends of professional wrestling including Brutus Beefcake, AJ Styles, Haku, Tatanka, Rick Steiner, James Storm, Kamala, Kevin Nash, Sabu, Sandman, Sid Vicious, and others.

I reached out to Hannibal and was able to conduct an exclusive interview about his upcoming match in Philadelphia at the ECW Arena against Super Crazy and what else may be in store for 2025!!!

•Hey brother..first off, it’s an absolute honor to be conducting this interview. How’s everything going?

“Everything’s going great. I’ve been training hard and getting into really good shape for this match against Super Crazy”

•I’ve been a diehard ECW fan since 1996. How does it feel to be making your debut at the historic ECW Arena?

“I was actually supposed to wrestle for battleground championship wrestling on a show that was being promoted in September 2021 to be a surprise opponent against Nunzio brought in by Raven, but there were some travel issues at the last minute…so it didn’t work out. Obviously, I’m a big ECW fan as well and I think of all the modern wrestlers, I have more of the spirit of the old ECW. I’m happy that at least this time it’s a promoted match and also: Philadelphia jumps from number #5 and #6 of the most popular viewed cities on my YouTube channel, so I know I’ve got a lot of people there that have never seen me wrestle live…so it’s going to be really cool.”

•I’ve seen your matches against ECW Originals Sabu, 2 Cold Scorpio, & The Sandman. Is this the first time you will be facing “The Insane Luchador” Super Crazy?

“I have wrestled many ECW Originals. I’ve worked Sabu twice, I’ve worked a few times with Scorpio…and also Sandman, Tommy Dreamer, Rodney Mack, Al Snow, and Justin Credible. But yes, this will be my first time ever going up against Super Crazy.”

•What exactly is a “No Gimmicks Match”? Could you please describe the stipulations to the fans reading this?

“I actually have no idea! You’ll have to ask Tri States Wrestling Alliance. I don’t know what the rules to a ‘No Gimmicks Match’ are & I really don’t care. The only thing I care about is having the most amazing match possible for the fans in Philadelphia.”

•What else does the year 2025 have in store for Hannibal?

“For 2025, I will be growing my channel to almost 430,000 subscribers and almost 270 million total views! Going to be working hard on that & probably, most definitely getting back to having more matches. I’ve been overcoming some injuries that I’ve had surgeries for as well as stem cell injections. I’ve been working out 2 times a day since November. Been getting into great ring shape.I’ve been talking to Championship Wrestling From Hollywood about some work there as well.”

You can check out his matches and Hannibal also covers professional wrestling news, results, and rumors over on THEHANNIBALTV on YouTube. He has conducted some of the best shoot interviews of all-time. You can find them on there as well.

  • David Fullam

Slow Devon needs to crawl back in his hole and ty there forever.

  • Alberto Garcia

*sarcastically* Devon does deserve to be interviewed by anyone who is an amateur, even if Chris Van Vliet tries to do it for views. It’s like giving softball questions to a guy who almost killed someone, yet Joe King doesn’t mention it. Good job, Mr. King.

Devon has been good to me. He’s a damn good dude if you ask me. We all have our opinions of others and some of us may catch others on a bad day. That’s why I don’t judge people on what others may think of them. About 3 or 4 out of every 5 people hate New Jack too…but I met him and he was cool as hell to me.
