This is the 230th installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involve such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series, I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.
Night Clubbed

Maurice ‘Mad Dog’ Vachon, was at one time, one of the most feared heel wrestlers of his day. Early in his career, Vachon worked as a bouncer for a popular night club in Montreal. One night, an argument had ensued when a club goer yelled at the coat check girl for not being able to find his jacket. The club goer allegedly grabbed the coat check girl by the arm during their argument.
Vachon, who had a real short temper snapped and proceeded to punch the man about four times in the face. He then dragged the bloodied up clubber and threw him down a flight of stairs. The man suffered multiple injuries, including a broken jaw. Unfortunately for Mad Dog, the young man injured, was the son of a government official in Canada.
Vachon was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. He faced up to six months in prison. Luckily, Vachon’s father Ferdinand was a retired police officer and knew the judge in this case. The judge did Ferdinand Vachon’s son a favor and gave Maurice a stern warning and a suspended sentence.
Dog Day of Summer

Sylvester Brown AKA ‘Rude Dog’ was a pro wrestler who competed mainly in areas like Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi in the 1980’s and 1990’s. Rude Dog most notably wrestled in the old Global Wrestling Federation (GWF) and was a preliminary wrestler for WCW. One morning in June of 1993, Rude Dog walked out of his home in Louisiana and was met with gunfire. Rude Dog was shot multiple times, including a bullet to his chest.
He was rushed to the hospital in grave condition, but luckily survived his wounds. When police were asked what was the motive of this shooting, the police believed it was gang related. Rude Dog appeared on the news a few days earlier to speak out on gangs who were destroying his neighborhood. In an apparent sign of retaliation, a gang opened fire on Dog to send a message.
Ospreay-ing Venom

‘The Aerial Assassin’ Will Ospreay is a big name overseas in both Europe and Japan. While dazzling fans with his quick speed and highlight reel of wrestling moves, Ospreay is also known for some of his controversial tweets. In the past, he has seemingly gone after a few women who wrestle in the United Kingdom among other places. For example, he allegedly DM’d a few British independent female wrestlers such as Bobbi Tyler telling them that they aren’t ready for a tour of Japan because he felt they were too green.

In another instance, a UK wrestler named Pollyanna came out and claimed she was sexually assaulted by a male wrestler. While she never named the wrestler, it was heavily rumored to be a close friend of Will Ospreay. He then tweeted this…

After tweeting that, he was heavily criticized by fans and fellow wrestlers alike. People felt he was calling Pollyanna a liar. Ospreay wound up deleting the tweet. Another Ospreay tweet found him criticizing a UK wrestler named Sadie Gibbs. He called her out for leaving a Japanese tour early to go to her grandfather’s funeral. Ospreay also claimed she had an attitude problem and didn’t get along with any of the other women on the tour. He even went as far as to say she was too much of a partyer and was kicked out of a mall.

Sadie and Will went back and forth with several tweets. Matt Jackson of the Young Bucks and ‘The Alpha Female’ Jazzy Gaebert tweeted their support of Sadie Gibbs. Ospreay would issue an apology for his tweets.

While Ospreay has continually found himself in hot water for these tweets criticizing UK female talent..some have speculated as to why. He is currently dating a wrestler named Bea Priestley. Many feel that he is indirectly attempting to discourage young wrestlers and intimidate them as a way to protect his girlfriend’s spot in UK women’s wrestling. Whether that is entirely true is up for debate.
The Kentucky Surly

For years, there was a mystery as to the reasoning for Shawn Michaels mugshot that was plastered all over the internet. No records were available on the arrest of a Michael Shawn Hickenbottom. In 2015, Michaels long time tag team partner Marty Jannetty revealed the cause for the arrest. The exact date is still not known.
The WWF was in Louisville, Kentucky for a house show and after the show several wrestlers went to hang out a club. After the club closed for the evening, some of those wrestlers refused to leave. The police were called and realizing that they were dealing with professional wrestlers…were not in a very good mood. Michaels allegedly began mouthing off to the officers and was ultimately arrested along with both Dino Bravo and WWF referee Joey Marella. They were held in jail overnight and had to be bailed out by none other than Jannetty himself.
