This is the 493rd installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involve such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series, I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.
Luchassault

CMLL Luchadora Stephanie Vaquer accused her longtime boyfriend and AAA luchador El Cuatrero of physical abuse and attempted murder in March of 2023. According to reports, Vaquer had questioned who Cuatrero was texting on his phone. That led to an argument which allegedly resulted in Cuatrero grabbing Vaquer by her throat and slamming her against a wall. The impact was so hard, that a painting fell off the wall and landed on Vaquer’s head. Cuatrero refused to release his grip on her throat.

Vaquer fought back and was able to get away from Cuatrero and run into the bedroom, locked the door and called police. Cuatrero fled the scene, but was eventually arrested and charged with domestic abuse and attempted femicide. Femicide is the murder of women and is considered a hate crime in Mexico. Paramedics treated Vaquer, who told her that she came close to having her trachea broken in the conflict. Police took photographs of the severe bruising around Vaquer’s neck.

When the news of the incident made the rounds, another former girlfriend came forward and accused Cuatrero of being violent in their past relationship. The ex claimed that she never revealed the abuse due to Cuatrero being a member of a famous wrestling family. (Cuatrero’s father is Cien Caras) Cuatrero denied all the accusations and through his lawyer wished that fans and the media would not jump to conclusions in this case. At the time of this incident, Cuatrero was one third of the AAA Trios Champions alongside his cousin and brother. Both AAA and CMLL refused to comment on the incident.
Piece of Ass

Terry Funk recalled being at a bar with his wife Vicki in his hometown of Amarillo, Texas. While Funk was conversing with his wife, a rather large man over 6 feet tall and weighing over 300 pounds asked his wife for a dance. Agitated, Terry told the man to wait as he was talking to his wife. The large man then recognized who Terry Funk was and reached out his hand to the wrestler. Being polite, Funk shook the man’s hand, but the man refused to let go and tightened his grip.

Funk had no other recourse but to slap the man across his face with his free hand. That led to a brawl between the two men. The man grabbed a table to throw at Funk, but Funk grabbed his legs to take him down. According to Funk, the man’s pants and underwear came off during the takedown. Funk saw the opportunity to bite the man as hard as he could on his butt, taking a small chunk out of it. The fight was eventually broken up, but the man ended up suing Funk and was awarded $750. Funk later quipped that it was the most expensive piece of ass he ever had.
Tuesday Night Tipsy

Paul Christy was a journeyman wrestler who competed in several NWA territories as well as Angelo Poffo’s outlaw promotion ICW. Christy was best friends with Lanny Poffo and a family friend of the entire Poffo family. In 1986, Randy Savage helped get Paul Christy a job with the World Wrestling Federation. He was mainly used as a jobber or enhancement talent, but was going to get a push as a possible mid card talent courtesy of his friendship with Savage and Lanny.

Paul Christy was booked for an appearance on the WWF talk show ‘Tuesday Night Titans’ where he was to showcase his real life talent of magic and talk a bit about his wrestling career. The problem was, before the show was taped, Christy was a bundle of nerves and drank an entire bottle of vodka to relax himself. He ended up getting drunk and rambled his way through his TNT segment. The host ‘Mean’ Gene Okerlund tried valiantly to try and keep Christy focused but could not. Okerlund was visibly upset during the segment which ran way too long and met the ire of Vince McMahon after the segment ended.
It was Paul Christy’s first and last interview with the WWF. Despite Randy Savage going to bat for Christy, he ended up getting fired by McMahon.
Gosh-Zilla

Zilla Fatu is the son of the late WWE star ‘The Samoan Bulldozer’ Umaga. After his father died of a drug overdose in 2009, Zilla felt lost and began hanging with the wrong crowd. He was in and out of juvenile detention for most of his youth. Then at 15 years old, he was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery and the judge sentenced him to six years at a Texas State Penitentiary.

After his release, Zilla sought to become a professional wrestler like his father and went to train with WWE Hall of Famer Booker T. Unfortunately, their partnership ended with what Booker T called “Irreconcilable differences.” Zilla claims that the two just had a difference of opinion on how his wrestling career should go, so the two parted ways, but stressed he still regards Booker T very highly.
