This is the 273rd installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involve such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series, I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.
Hornswoggled

While at the peak of his WWE career, Hornswoggle was living a different life behind the scenes. His live in girlfriend, who he had met a few years earlier while the two were wrestling on the independents, had become addicted to pain medication. Hornswoggle would skip out on a few house shows just to be home to keep an eye on her. One day, Hornswoggle came home to find his girlfriend unconscious on their bed after overdosing on pills. The stress got to him and he began to drink and party to forget his home life.
Hornswoggle admitted to being unfaithful to his girlfriend on a few occasions while on the road with WWE. He wasn’t the only one who was cheating, as he discovered that his girlfriend was seeing another man (an indie wrestler) while he was away wrestling. She eventually left Hornswoggle to be with the other man…taking all of their belongings with her.
Wright and Wrong

Bearcat Wright was a wrestler who mainly competed in the 1950’s and 60’s. By the time the 1970’s rolled around, Wright transitioned into becoming a manager. During that time, Bearcat Wright apparently fell into some financial straits and needed money. He approached fellow wrestler Rocky Johnson about buying his old pick up truck. After repeatedly turning Wright down, Johnson finally relented realizing that Wright needed the money.

Johnson purchased his truck for a couple hundred dollars. Once, When Rocky traveled to a different territory, he left the truck in long term parking at the airport. When he returned, he discovered that his truck was gone from the lot. Rocky reported the truck stolen to police and after a brief investigation..discovered an elderly couple had the vehicle. The police were skeptical that an elderly couple actually stole the truck.
After further investigation, it turned out that they bought the truck from Bearcat Wright. Wright resold the truck to the couple after already selling it to Rocky Johnson. Wright had an extra set of keys and took the truck once Johnson was out of town. Rocky discovered that Bearcat was allegedly running several scams like that all over town.
Latina Eat

When Shaul Guerrero signed with WWE back in 2010, she admittedly came in with a certain attitude. After all, she was wrestling royalty being the daughter of the late, great Eddie Guerrero. She rose up the ranks of their developmental territory (FCW) and became women’s champion. While Shaul was on her way to stardom like her Dad, uncles and grandfather before her…she was becoming sick. The intense physical and mental rigors of the business were taking a toll on her.

The lifestyle of trying to maintain a “WWE Divas” body was killing her. She had developed an eating disorder that weakened her physically and she could no longer keep up with the other talent. It was Joey Mercury and the strength and conditioning coach that noticed Shaul wasn’t right and she admitted that she had a problem. In 2012, Shaul Guerrero entered rehab and remained there for over three months.
After she was released from rehab, she decided to take a full year off to recover her mind and body. She eventually returned to WWE’s NXT, but decided to ask for her release in 2014 when problems with her eating disorder resurfaced. Thankfully, Shaul is healthy nowadays and has returned to wrestling as she is now the ring announcer for Women of Wrestling.
Living Like a Rock Star

Heavy Metal is a luchador who has competed in Mexico for AAA and CMLL and has also appeared for WWF and TNA wrestling. Heavy Metal was a favorite of AAA promoter Antonio Pena who apparently looked the other way on several of Heavy Metal’s misdoings. He allegedly lived the gimmick and had issues with both drugs and alcohol. Some of which Pena witnessed personally. Heavy Metal once walked out of the ring after losing a Hair Vs Hair match just because he didn’t want his hair cut off. He was suspended by AAA indefinitely, but was soon reinstated fifteen days later.
Metal was also arrested in 2011 for a DUI. According to rumors, Heavy Metal got away with so much because his brother was Negro Casas (A huge star in Lucha Libre) He also showed loyalty to AAA after there was a mass exodus of talent to WCW.
