Top Five Vignettes That Did Not Deliver A Star

This week’s top five subject is the opposite of last week’s. Which vignettes were good at hyping a pro wrestler’s debut…but the debut ultimately fell flat? There are my personal top five…who do you have?

Kizarny

A very creepy vignette set in a carnival with an individual talking “carny” was, to me, very effective. As we watched these vignettes for weeks hyping the arrival of a man known as ‘Kizarny’…I wondered what bizarre, freak show were we about to experience. Instead, we got someone who was a bit strange, but nothing as I expected. His debut match against MVP was lackluster at best and he soon faded away.

Hade Vansen

A dark and mysterious individual was ready to be unveiled in the WWE in 2008. The only problem was, he never materialized. Hade Vansen was reportedly going to be pushed directly into a feud with the Undertaker, but for various reasons, it was scrapped and we never saw of Hade Vansen again.

Nathan Jones

The vignettes were set inside a prison and this beastly looking man was about to be released and unleash himself on to the WWE. While Nathan Jones looked the part of a monster, he was green as grass and never really developed into the mega star WWE forecasted him to be. Not even a brief run as the Undertaker’s protégé helped advance his career.

Sean O’ Haire

A series of excellent vignettes aired hyping the re-debut of Sean O’Haire in WWE. A Devil’s advocate character was ready to appear in the company. Instead, we got another version of ‘Cowboy’ Bob Orton, as O’Haire became a sort of bodyguard to Roddy Piper. Definitely an utter disappointment.

Mordecai

Visually, the vignettes were spot on. A character all dressed in white, but extremely dark and twisted was set to debut under the name of ‘Mordecai.’ While the vignettes, his look and entrance were all top notch…the wrestler was not and the character quickly disappeared into oblivion. At least, until he was repackaged as a vampire for the ECW brand.
