This is the 414st installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involve such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series, I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.

The Kliq is Sick

Kevin Nash recalled a story where all the members of the Kliq were travelling in a van to the next town. They were all taking pills and washing them down with Jack Daniels whiskey…with the exception of Triple H who was the designated driver. After they reached their hotel, they all decided to grab a bite to eat at the hotel restaurant.

When they walked into the restaurant, the Kliq noticed the place was filled with about 20 to 25 cops all eating. Instead of leaving, Nash told Sean Waltman to go back to the van and throw all the empty beer and whiskey bottles away. Waltman went back to the van and cleared it of all the trash, but then passed out inside the van from the drugs he did. The rest of the Kliq decided to stay in the restaurant and eat while both high and drunk. The police officers began to stare at the wrestlers as they were clearly all intoxicated. As the Kliq members started to freak out from the stares, Scott Hall decided to scream out…”Yes we are WWF Superstars!”

Both Shawn Michaels and Nash began to shake uncontrollably at the table they were seated at due to the pills they took earlier. Nash thought it was probably a good idea to leave the restaurant with Michaels before they passed out in front of the cops. As both stumbled towards the door, one of the officers saw enough and approached the Nash and Michaels. The cop questioned the two wrestlers, as Triple H intervened and assured the cop that Michaels was violently shaking because he was epileptic. The cop said if that was true, he had a choice, either take him to the hospital or they go to jail. An ambulance was called and Michaels was stretchered away, while a few officers searched their van while Waltman remained unconscious inside. Triple H said that Waltman was just exhausted from wrestling and the cops let the rest of the Kliq off and into their hotel rooms. Shawn Michaels spent the evening in the emergency room with Kevin Nash, but were allowed to leave the following day.

Watts His Name?

Arn Anderson recalled a story from his days in WCW back in 1992. At the time, ‘Cowboy’ Bill Watts was in charge of the promotion and wanted his wrestlers on the roster to look and act tough. After a taping of WCW programming, Watts was annoyed that several wrestlers weren’t believable enough when they threw punches during their matches. Watts gathered the roster in the locker room and began scolding them. He then took it a step further, when he pointed out Arn and called him to stand up.

Watts didn’t call him by his name, instead repeatedly and sarcastically referred to Arn as “Lars.” As in Lars Anderson….Arn’s “kayfabe’ brother from years ago. Watts kept calling Arn…Lars to stand up and so he could demonstrate what a proper punch in wrestling looked like. When Arn stood up and approached Bill Watts, Bill threw a legitimate closed fist punch to Arn’s forehead. Arn no sold the punch, as it was in front of the entire locker room of wrestlers. Watts then turned his back to Arn and again called him Lars and to sit back down.

Pissed Off

One night, before an ECW show…Raven brought a full bottle of the liquid drug GHB into the locker room. He set the bottle down and went to the bathroom and when he returned, he noticed that some of the content in the bottle was gone. Raven started asking other wrestlers if they stole some of his drug with negative results. That is until he spotted Tammy Sytch passed out on a chair. She had urinated on herself and Raven knew immediately she was the culprit.

Raven went to Sytch’s boyfriend Chris Candido and told him what she did and Candido tried to revive her with no luck. According to Raven, Candido started delivering Ric Flair style chops to her chest and screaming “Woooo” to try and wake her up. He did this a number of times, while he and Raven were hysterically laughing.

Sonny With A Chance of Prosecution

“The Missouri Meteor” Sonny Myers wrestled for various territories including Texas, Kansas, Missouri and Iowa starting in the 1940’s. Myers won a version of the world title by defeating Orville Brown in 1947, but when the National Wrestling Alliance was formed in 1948…the NWA recognized Orville Brown as their world champion instead. After his wrestling career wound down, Myers ran a carnival and became a sheriff for Buchanan County in Missouri in the 1970’s.

In 1974, Myers was accused of violating Missouri’s constitutional ban on nepotism by hiring his son Steven to work as a deputy transporting prisoners. Sonny Myers and his son were accused of defrauding the county of over 900 dollars. The indictments against Myers were dropped in February of ’74, when Sonny agreed to pay back the money that was allegedly stolen, admit guilt for the incident, resign as sheriff and agree in writing to never seek public office again.
