This is the 272nd installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involve such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series, I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.

A Pat on the Back

Ray Stevens and Pat Patterson were not only a successful tag team in various territories, they were also very good friends outside the ring as well. According to Pat Patterson, Stevens had two very bad vices in his life….booze and sex. Both have led Stevens to get into trouble more than a few times. Patterson said that Ray was one of the first men to know that Pat was a gay man and often used Patterson to hook Stevens up with women.

On one occasion, Ray Stevens wanted to sleep with his next door neighbor who was married. He asked Patterson to act as a distraction to the woman’s husband while Stevens bedded her right next door. The mission was successful, but Patterson said the husband eventually caught on to his wife’s unfaithfulness. The husband assumed it was Patterson (not his friend and next door neighbor Stevens) who was sleeping with his wife. The husband went after Patterson…who had to deal with the hostile situation on his own and not give up the real culprit in Stevens.

Gabi’s Other TNA Venture

Gabriela Castrovinci is a Brazilian pro wrestler and valet who has been wrestling since 2015. She once competed on WWE’s ‘Tough Enough’ program and finished in tenth place. Gabi also wrestled for Total Non Stop Action (TNA) under the name of ‘Raquel.’ She also wrestled for various independent promotions across the U.S..

Recently, Gabi started her own site to offer her fans a little more of her than just her pro wrestling career. On her site, she offers fans exclusive content for a small fee. What fans get is her posting nude photos of herself.

Borne to Run…A Red Light

The late Matt Borne once recalled what he did after the very first Wrestlemania in 1985. Borne said he and many of the other wrestlers who competed that night, treated the event like any other night and didn’t think it would be a big deal. Borne said he and Roddy Piper were friends who traveled together and both hopped on the first flight they could get back to their homes in Portland, Oregon.

Once back home, Borne claimed that he and Piper drank and popped a few pills to relax. After dropping Piper at his house, Borne headed back to his own home. Borne admitted that he was really in no condition to drive. He said he accidentally ran a red light right in front of police car on the side of the road. The policeman pulled Borne over and suspected Matt was in no condition to drive and was arrested on the spot.

When word got back to Vince McMahon later the next day…Vince fired Borne. It took Roddy Piper to stand up for Borne to get his job back with the company. It didn’t last long, however, because Vince would fire Borne a few months later.

Getting a Piece of Candy

In 1988, a young Rick Steiner and a veteran wrestler named Ray Candy got into a verbal and then allegedly a physical altercation backstage. The incident was quickly broken up, but Steiner apparently wasn’t satisfied. The two were both booked in a Bunkhouse Battle Royal and Steiner took the opportunity to go right after Candy. It is rumored that Steiner used his amateur wrestling skills to take down the 340 pound wrestler and “worked him over” the entire time both men were in the ring together. Ray Candy would soon leave the NWA after the incident.
