Back in the 80’s and 90’s, it was very common to see some no name wrestler go up against a proven star of a promotion. Whether that be from the WWF, NWA/WCW, AWA or elsewhere, these nomads of professional wrestling were there to make the stars look great. They were known as enhancement talent, preliminary wrestlers or as many fans have come to know them…”jobbers.” While fans were clamoring to see big time match ups, these “squash matches” served a very important purpose. While perhaps not appreciated at the time, they were just as important as the stars themselves.

In the early 1990’s, Perry Saturn was just starting to get his feet wet in professional wrestling. Having been trained by the legendary Killer Kowalski, Saturn was wrestling in the northeast on the independent circuit. In June of 1992, while the World Wrestling Federation was in Massachusetts, a young Saturn was given an opportunity to be on WWF television.

He wrestled under the very generic name of ‘Peter Motts’ and was beaten by Native American Tatanka. Saturn also got squashed by the Legion of Doom in a tag team match at the very same TV tapings. Peter Motts never quite made it as a star in the WWF and soon disappeared.

Of course, Saturn would form a tag team with John Kronus as the Eliminators and find success in places like the USWA and ECW. Saturn would then focus on a singles career where he wrestled for promotions like WCW and win the TV title, the WWF and TNA.
