Wrestling With Sin: 543

August 4, 2025

Brian Damage

This is the 543rd installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involve such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series, I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.

Legal Issues

Perry Saturn recalled an incident that happened the night before ECW held its first ever pay per view called ‘Barely Legal’ back in 1997. Saturn said that a small group of about three or four wrestlers took a well known ECW “ring rat” back to a hotel room. While Saturn refused to name who the wrestlers were due to some of them being married at the time, he did say that the rat in question gave them all oral sex. As a joke, Saturn said he and another wrestler grabbed the nude woman and threw her outside the room into the hallway and locked the door.

Saturn said the woman threw a huge fit that got the attention of the hotel staff and threatened to make an even bigger deal by calling in the police. Saturn said he felt bad and decided to smooth things over by invited the woman to the hotel bar for a few drinks. While at the bar, ECW valet Francine saw the woman and allegedly scolded her that she did not belong with all the wrestlers and asked the female in question to leave. That started an argument between the woman and Francine which was broken up by Saturn.

Saturn then admitted that he got into a yelling match with Francine over the issue and that led to Shane Douglas getting involved. Douglas and Saturn got into a yelling match and had to be physically separated from each other. All of this got back to Paul Heyman who started “freaking out” on Saturn . Heyman scolded Saturn that an incident like this could get the pay per view canceled and if that were to happen, Saturn would have to answer to the entire locker room for his immature actions and pay the price. Luckily, nothing deeper came from the entire situation and the show went on as planned.

The Strange WWE Odyssey of Odyssey Jones

Omari Palmer was signed to a WWE developmental contract in 2019 and trained at the company’s Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. Palmer would be given the ring name of ‘Odyssey Jones’ and begin wrestling for NXT, where he made it all the way into the finals of the Breakout Star tournament. Odyssey would remain with the NXT brand until April of 2023, where he was drafted to the Raw brand.

He was rumored to be put into a faction with Bobby Lashley and the Street Profits, but plans changed and Odyssey remained in limbo for several months. Odyssey would not be used or seen for several months. He finally made his main roster debut in August of 2024, well over a year since being initially drafted. After a couple of weeks on television, he was once again pulled off. It was then reported that he was released by WWE. Not long after, reports came in that the reason Odyssey Jones was fired by the company was because of allegations of domestic abuse were made against him. Odyssey Jones issued a statement on social media…

“Good morning, my name is Omari Palmer, AKA Odyssey Jones. First and foremost, I’d like to thanks my lord and savior Jesus Christ for giving me the strength to get through these difficult times. As always all glory to God… I’m making this video to address the false allegations. These false claims are coming from a party that I used to engage with, and I apologize for taking so long for addressing these false claims, but I had to patiently wait to get an injunction set in place to protect my family, my friends, and myself. I am currently taking legal action against said party so I can’t speak too much more on it but there will be information to come.”

“I would like to thank WWE for the amazing opportunity. I thank you so much for bringing me on… I’d also like to thank management and creative for putting me in a position for success, as well as thank the fans for the support that you give me not only today but all the way back from day one… The journey continues. I’m ready to get back to doing what I love to do. I’m accepting bookings in 2025, and I thank you all for your support and for your time. I wish you nothing but blessing and love.” Jones was granted an order of protection against his ex back in August of 2024.

Bad Dream

‘The Dream Machine’ aka Troy Graham was a mainstay of Memphis wrestling in late 1970’s until the mid 1990’s. Graham won several regional titles in the territory and was inducted into the Memphis Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2022. According to his friend Dutch Mantell, the later years of Graham’s career saw Graham struggle financially and battling substance abuse problems. Mantell said the last time he saw Graham at an event, he was dirty and disheveled and broke. He allegedly begged some of the wrestlers backstage for money so he could eat.

Mantell also said that he recalled sharing a hotel room once with Graham and was awakened in the middle of the night with Graham’s face covered in blood. When Mantell asked Graham what happened, Graham was unresponsive and staring into space. Apparently, Graham kept punching himself in the head to draw blood for no reason. Mantell said it was first and last time he ever shared a room with Troy Graham. Sadly, Troy Graham died of a heart attack in 2002 at the age of 52.

Richter Scales

According to a U.S. Air flight status report, in February of 1989, former WWF and AWA women’s champion Wendi Richter boarded a flight that contained a python snake as a carry on. During the course of the flight, Richter became inebriated after having a couple of drinks. During that time, Richter took the large python out and wrapped the snake around her neck.

The incident caused a “major disturbance” with other passengers and Richter had to be told more than once to put the snake away. After finally complying to numerous requests from US Air employees, Richter was eventually escorted off the plane upon landing and detained by FAA officials. No arrest was made, however, Richter was instructed to place the snake in a suitable container and placed with checked baggage instead of a carry on in the future.

Never liked Perry Saturn. Manager Scott Bowden had a sad tale about Troy Graham on his old blog. Like Dutch, he witnessed Troy punching himself full force in the face to get a battered look to sell an angle. He had nothing beyond wrestling, one of those men who suffered with the end of the regionals. A Python as carry on luggage? Wow. Sounds like a British comedy film, “Carry On, Python.”
