This is the 490th installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involve such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series, I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.
Family Feud
Vickie and Eddie Guerrero’s daughter Sherilyn, accused Vickie’s husband Kris Benson of sexually assaulting her back in 2020. She claimed that the assault happened while the family were on a cruise together. Sherilyn said that she initially confronted her mother about the incident and was met with complete denial. Sherilyn went on social media to reveal the incident to the public after she claims her mother turned a blind eye and severed ties with her.
Sherilyn stated…“I have told my mom how uncomfortable I am with him after it happened. And basically, she was always telling me ‘It was a mistake; it’s not who he is.’ Just kind of like, ‘I’m sorry, that’s not my problem,’ type of deal. And I never really felt like she protected me.”
Vickie has since fired back against her daughter’s allegations stating that Sherilyn was ungrateful to her husband Kris, who spoiled her by buying her a new car and taking care of her financially. Vickie claims the allegations came out once Kris Benson decided cut her off financially. Vickie said her daughter was psychotic and he has since disowned own. Vickie then deleted all of her social media accounts, following a backlash from many of Sherilyn’s supporters which included her cousin Chavo Guerrero Jr. Chavo offered support to his cousin by saying on social media…
Just to let everyone know, I fully support my cousin, Sherilyn Guerrero, Eddie’s daughter & have been doing so privately in the last couple years of her struggles. She is a very strong woman for coming forward with the sexual assault she has suffered. I Love You Prima! Chavo Jr. has stated that he no longer speaks to Vickie due to her actions involving the situation with her daughter.
Vickie’s other daughter Shaul admitted that the assault did in fact occur as Sherilyn stated…but added…
“I am deeply saddened at the state my family has been in for years. What my sister stated happened on the cruise was true. She did get SA’d by my stepfather. SA is NEVER okay and she has every right to talk about it. Was it rape…no. But it was unwanted touching which is absolutely unacceptable and traumatizing. This incident tore an even deeper wedge into our family than what was there before. My mother and sister have had a deeply tumultuous relationship for years, same with my sister and I. After this incident on the cruise we all went into various forms of therapy in order to heal.
My sister has led the public to believe we abandoned her after the SA which is not true. The family went into various forms of therapy and Mom & Kris helped Sherilyn get on her feet again by helping her financially as they have done for Sherilyn since she was 22. Does this solve the wounds-absolutely not, but she was not abandoned after this incident. Family or not I have refused people in my life who do not treat me with respect. I have refused to continue my role in my family where I play peacekeeper especially when I am states away and can’t referee properly.
Sherilyn I will once again offer to do therapy with you so we can sort out our relationship. Morn has offered the same these past years as we all know we need a professional to be in the room if we are going to talk to each other. You have never stepped forward to want to mend the relationship or take us up on therapy despite us saying we will take care of the details and finances. Sherilyn what happened to you was not okay. What happened on that cruise tore an even deeper wedge into our family. But the reason why we all don’t talk is a deep well of tangled hurt and complication that I can barely understand let alone the fans that think they know our family.
I’m so sad that we are dealing with all of this hurt publicly now. I hope the family that is supporting you will hold your hand and give you the support you need. That family does not include me due to the verbal and emotional abuse you have subjected me to over many years. My boundaries matter just as yours do and until you agree to meet with a therapist to work this out, then we will continue to heal separately. I hope you find healing.”
Vickie and Kris Benson have since hired a lawyer and issued a statement though their attorney which read…Kris and Vickie Benson vehemently deny Sherilyn Guerrero’s recent allegations of sexual assault and abandonment. Ms. Guerrero’s unsubstantiated accusations have caused the Bensons to suffer public ridicule, scorn, derision, and humiliation. Kris and Vickie fully appreciate the seriousness of allegations of this nature and the need for public support of sexual assault survivors; however, they ask that you withold final judgment on this matter until they have an opportunity to bring Ms. Guerrero and her claims into a court of law where judgment is based on facts and merit.
Vickie and Kris Benson have been married since 2015.
Crime in Coney Island
Vach Lewis was a Jewish American carnival strongman, turned professional wrestler, turned bodyguard to a criminal organization called the ‘Eastman Gang’ based in Coney Island, Brooklyn. Lewis was nicknamed ‘Cyclone Louie’ during his wrestling days and was known to be able to bend solid steel bars using his neck and arms. He eventually quit wrestling and became a bodyguard to the Eastman gang’s leader Max “Kid Twist” Zwerbach.
The Eastman Gang were in the midst of a gang war with rivals ‘The Five Points Gang’ when a member of the Five Points gang named Louie ‘The Lump’ Pioggi was discovered having an affair with Kid Twist’s girlfriend…a dance hall girl named Carroll Terry. When Kid Twist found out about the affair, he sent Vach Lewis to take Pioggi out. That led Lewis chasing Pioggi through a bar in Manhattan and Pioggi jumping out and second story window to escape…breaking his ankle in the process.
Seeking revenge, Pioggi got permission from his gang to eliminate Kid Twist. On May 14, 1908…after leaving a Coney Island bar….Kid Twist and Vach Lewis were walking with Carroll Terry, when Pioggi ambushed the men from behind and firing six shots. Kid Twist was shot once in the head and Vach Lewis was shot five times in the head and chest. Carroll Terry was hit in the shoulder from a stray bullet…but survived. The two gangsters were found dead on the street. Louie Pioggi was eventually arrested for the murders…but was only charged with manslaughter and served 11 months in prison. The Five Points Gang allegedly had the judge on their payroll.
Chair-ity Event
During a charity event held in Rochester, New York…wrestlers ‘Big’ John Studd and the Road Warriors were guests. The trio had way too much to drink and decided it would be fun to go back to their hotel room and drop chairs from their balcony hitting parked cars. After several minutes of dropping the chairs, hotel security was called to investigate the incident.
The security was met with three drunk and angry wrestlers who scared the security detail away. Police were then called and the wrestlers were arrested and eventually released that night.
Fallen Down Drunk
‘Fallen Angel’ Christopher Daniels was arrested on August 28, 2009 in North Carolina for driving while intoxicated. Daniels who was working for TNA Wrestling at the time, was pulled over for a traffic violation when the officer noticed that Daniels was slurring his speech and appeared intoxicated. A breathalyzer test was administered and it registered 0.14…well over the 0.08 legal limit.
It was later reported that Daniels was out drinking with ‘Hurricane’ Shane Helms as the two were going back and forth on social media before Daniels arrest about having a drinking contest against one another. Christopher Daniels was arrested a short distance from Helms’ home. Daniels was released from custody after posting a $2,000 bond.
