This is the 392nd installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involve such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series, I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.
What A Tangled Dark Web We Weave
Brother to WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle and a former WWE developmental wrestler from 2000 to 2003…Eric Angle was arrested in September of 2019. He and two other individuals were charged with conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and conspiracy to import controlled substances, among other charges. According to authorities, Eric Angle and others used the dark web to manufacture and sell steroids. Angle in particular, allegedly bought 721 grams of liquid steroids for redistribution.
Eric Angle pled guilty to conspiracy to distribute controlled substances in January of 2020. He received two years probation and a $5,000 fine.
Didn’t Make The Cut
Billy Taylor was a Canadian wrestler and referee who competed in the 1950’s and 60’s. Taylor admittedly was an alcoholic for close to 45 years. He often drank before and after wrestling matches he competed in or officiated. There was one incident that could have derailed Taylor’s life forever.
It was a chain match that involved Yvon ‘The Beast’ Cormier in which Taylor was the referee. Cormier asked Taylor to cut him open during the match, because Cormier was not comfortable doing it himself. Taylor agreed, but unfortunately was drinking heavily before the match. When it came time for Taylor to cut open Cormier’s forehead, Taylor botched the blading and cut an artery in Cormier’s temple. Yvon Cormier bled profusely. So much so, that he began having convulsions on the mat. The match was stopped and Cormier received medical attention.
Fortunately for all involved, Cormier survived the injury. It did not stop Taylor from drinking. He eventually sought treatment years later and became clean and sober.
Sadie Just Gibbs and Gibbs
Sadie Gibbs is a former gymnast turned professional wrestler from London, England. She began her career in 2017 wrestling throughout Europe and Japan. In 2019, Gibbs signed with All Elite Wrestling where she remained until her release in August of 2020. In April of 2021, Gibbs announced her retirement from pro wrestling to focus on other endeavors.
One of those endeavors, was Gibbs creating an OnlyFans account. It allows her fans, for a subscription fee, see the former wrestler like never before. It does include several nude photos of herself. For $12.50 a month you have access to those nudes and other photos and can direct message her as well.
My Way or the Highway
‘Superstar’ Billy Graham recalled a story where he was travelling with the British Bulldogs and The Ultimate Warrior. The WWF was having a show in Portland, Oregon and Warrior and the Bulldogs began taking drugs before leaving the hotel. Graham said that Warrior insisted on driving and Graham allowed it despite his best judgement.
According to Graham, the Warrior started speeding going around 80 to 90 miles an hour on side streets in Portland to get to the arena. He blew through intersections and stop signs…all the while Davey Boy Smith and the Dynamite Kid were laughing hysterically in the backseat. Graham referred to the experience as the “car ride from hell.” Thankfully, the wrestlers got to the arena in one piece…but Graham never traveled with that crew again.
