This Week in Wrestling: Week 12 of 2026

So it was revealed that when Vince McMahon put WWE up for sale, a company called base 10 placed a bid to purchase it. The offer was for 6.9 billion dollars. One of the people involved with the base 10 company was none other than AEW owner Tony Khan. Now imagine if you will, Khan won the bid and purchased WWE from McMahon. How insane would that have been?

We all remember when Vince McMahon bought WCW and what a dark period of time that was for professional wrestling. Monopolies in any business sucks and WWE owning their competition was not good. The question that I ask is what would Khan have done with WWE? Would he continue to run it like a regular sports entertainment company or change it to something of a hybrid version of what AEW already is/was?

Then again, would Khan and company let it collect dust something that has happened when Khan purchased Ring of Honor? Sure, Khan still runs ROH events, but let’s face it, the promotion isn’t his first or even second option. He basically uses it to send wrestlers he has on payroll that he doesn’t really use much or doesn’t want on his main shows like Dynamite and Collision. Some have said that Ring of Honor is AEW’s version of Purgatory.

In any case, Tony Khan owning WWE to me wouldn’t have been a good thing at all. Nonetheless, an interesting newsbit that came out this past week or so.
